If the Spurs think it's inevitable they deal Kawhi to the Lakers they need the Lakers convinced they don't believe that. They want the Lakers to desperately offer every last drop. I don't love the Lakers offer either, but if Boston isn't dealing Jaylen Brown there's not anything else out there.
the bigger the leverage the higher the price. It's another thing to trade for kawhi offering deng + randle because noone other seems interested and another to giveup everything. And Ainge is working hard to make sure that they are robbed of everything they own and will own in the future.
Yeah but they don't need anyone else to make the Lakers offer all of the garbage they have on their team to make it happen. The Lakers are against the clock trying to convince Lebron to come. Convincing the Celtics that the Lakers are prepared to throw out a "Godfather offer" might make them want to give their best offer now.
The Spurs can get everything the Lakers have already though, the Lakers are desperate as it is and will get more desperate the longer this goes on.
who says that? because it was leaked that Lebron will sign ONLY with Kawhi? there are more fish in the sea always. Also good things come to those who wait etc etc. When someone is under pressure then PRESS more so they completely collapse without thinking.

Because if the team is just Paul George and Lebron, the Lakers might not even be a team that gets home court in the first round of the playoffs and would have no chance at making it past the 2nd round.....and I'm sure they know it. The idea behind Paul Geroge, Kawhi, and Lebron is that team would have a slight chance to make the WCF (with the right injuries to other teams).
I agree on the Ainge front. That guy has an obsession with winning every trade haha. Your Lakers theory is very plausible. The decision point is if SA knows it’s inevitable to trade Kawhi to LA. Considering what the Spurs and Kawhi went through all last season, I don’t believe Pop is willing to trade Kawhi there. I think Pop is trying to get Kyrie in the deal from Boston, whose future is just as uncertain as Kawhi’s as far as desired destinations. But if he can’t get what he wants, does he believe he can get a package better than Kuz, Ingram, Hart, and 2 firsts? F5 day in full effect. And it’s still morning!
I think the issue I see MAYBE happening (again, we really have no clue) is that the Lakers were probably trying to get Kawhi cheap. They want to play a leverage game against the Spurs. Kawhi will only sign with LA! We are getting Lebron no matter what! If you don't trade him here we'll wait to sign him! But here, we'll give you a decent offer anyway just to make this easy. The Spurs return with their own leverage game The Lakers wouldn't even attempt to give an offer to the Pacers for PG because they "knew" he would sign with them. I think they were probably trying to get Kawhi on a discount by saying "we are your only option." The Spurs are playing chicken with them.
