Ok, the NBA Draft is over. Free Agency starts in 8 days. Where are our insiders at? Did the draft change anything in the FA game? What are the signals? @cyberx @Codman @ch44
The Lakers are widely seen as the greatest threat to lure James away from his home state, with other suitors like the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers appearing to be long shots at this point. But the notion of him heading to Los Angeles without another co-star in tow, of leaving the East after eight consecutive Finals appearances to play in a Western Conference where Golden State and Houston have proven their prowess, is widely viewed as lunacy. CHRIS PAUL It’s only natural to wonder if James might partner with his best friend and fellow free agent in Paul, and we’ve been wondering for six months or so if that might be the case. But while the Rockets appear resigned to the fact that James won’t be coming their way, they also remain fully confident that Paul is going nowhere. When Paul pushed his way from the Clippers to the Rockets via trade last June, there was a mutual understanding about how his next contract would look. It remains to be seen if it comes in the form of a five-year, $205 million max deal – one that would have him making a whopping $46.7 million in the final year of the deal while nearing the age of 38 – but there remains a strong sense within Rockets circles that he’s staying put. As for the recent report from Fox Sports’ Chris Broussard that there are rising tensions between the two sides because Paul wants the full max and isn’t sure if he’ll get it, two people with knowledge of the situation refuted the idea there is any friction between the sides. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. If it’s any indication, Paul is part of the Rockets contingent expected to be on hand for the TNT awards in Los Angeles on Monday to help his co-star, James Harden, celebrate the MVP award that is widely expected to be coming his way. What’s more, Paul recently bought a new house in the Houston area. As for the prospect of James joining him, it’s looking highly unlikely.
For those if you who want to know... early last year, Jeanie Buss, Kevin Tsujihara, Tom Rutledge, Justin Lin and Maverick Carter all sat at a table multiple times to discuss business. The key is to know who these people are and what was discussed, then y'all would know exactly where LeBron and PG are headed together this summer. And it is not Houston. LeBron is not signing a 1+1. He is signing a four year deal. Are y'all familiar with LeBron's entertainment company, Springhill Entertainment? If not, check out his website and tell me what you think: http://shentertainment.com/about.html
Serious question: doesn’t he lakers have a board somewhere? Not sure this is the place for you to discuss how you feel about laker free agent target rumors.
So I started looking into this and found this in a Lakers forum: OK man, let me tell you one of my fantasies... Jeanie Buss, Maverick Carter, Tom Rutledge, Kevin Tsujihara and Justin Lin sitting at a table, not once, not twice, but multiple times over the past months... Except that wasn't my fantasy, that actually happened, just like Warner Bros is talking about future projects with SpringHill Entertainment starting the next summer... You know that first Space Jam had budget of around 80 millions and they earned more than 300 millions if you count both domestic and internataional box office grosses, plus who knows how many millions with VHS, DVD, games, toys, McDonalds happy meals, other merchandise, etc. But at that time there was big hype surrounding Jordan because he was coming back to the NBA after playing baseball, right now no matter how popular Lebron is, there is simply not enough hype to make a blockbuster basketball movie with more than 100 millions in budget, but once Lebron moves to the Lakers, there will be enough hype to justify that, because right now if you look at all NBA fans around the world, almost half of them are Lakers fans, that's why Stern said that the best final would be Lakers against Lakers, plus there will be many more fans ready to jump on the bandwagon once Lebron comes to LA... Space Jam 2 is the project with half a billion dollar potential for the investors, Lebron will have the main role, plus he and his buddies will be among the producers, that's just the step one in their Hollywood dream and many more projects will be lined up after that, so yeah, Lebron is coming to the Lakers, the wheels are set in motion, too much money is already on the line, the fantasy became a reality when he called Jeanie and told her that he's coming, that's why Magic and Pelinka are doing what they are doing and that's why they are so confident everytime when they speak about next summer. Maverick Floor is Big Baller? Is this you?
what’s really going to put space jam 2 over the top is if lebron is a laker. It’s the equivalent of Jordan un-retiring. Hahaha I love lakers fans so much
So, LeBron will be more popular with the Lakers than he will with Cleveland (or anywhere else)? How? The guy Is already a world renown sports icon, sorry I don't buy your theory. They can make the movie now and it's either going to fail or succeed. Lebron's address won't have any bearing because he's already the most popular player in basketball.
LOL, yeah, we will. You keep holding out hope that Lebron plans on throwing away the rest of his career, I'm fine thinking that he won't.
