I wouldn’t think so either. We all know Morey thrives in the 2nd round and perhaps he’s looking to acquire some young athleticism which is currently lacking on our team.
Doubtful for a trade, but it's a good way to get some shots at young, fringe talent with upside that you can either stash overseas OR sign after you've dealt with the rest of the roster.
It's definitely NOT OK TO BE ALONE if you're going to spend all of your free time trolling other teams' message boards and bragging about your crazy pipe dreams. This is like a homeless man roaming the streets, putting his bare wrist in people's faces, and bragging about his Rolex Yacht-Master watch. What a nut.
2nd rounders don't have much trade value, but they do allow you to fill out your roster with young, cheap players that can potentially be developed.
Not only that, but after this trade aren’t they under the tax for this past season as well? Essentially avoiding the tax next year and the current year that doesn’t reset until July?
If we get some 2nd rounders to fill out roster, I think our “incomplete roster” cap hold will go away. I believe this is about 4-5m?
Yeah 2nd rounders don't have much trade value, however this draft is really deep in terms of potential NBA role players. Most draft experts rate guys in picks 20-45 around having similar value. Morey can definitely find a couple of keepers in this draft
if only Rhyno was a few millions cheaper we could be the ones to get such a bargain. Not even a single first to get rid of an albatross two year contract.
A 2nd round pick only counts against the cap once they are signed. The incomplete roster hold is for the rookie minimum so even if we signed a 2nd round pick, it doesn't lower the cap. Once signed, the players salary would replace one of the incomplete roster spots but his salary can't be lower than the hold amount since it's the rookie minimum.
So if we drafted 3 late second round picks, signed them to their rookie minimum slotted salary, they would then be counted on our roster? Also how many players are needed to get rid of the “incomplete roster” designation?
lol, I read that as our "incompetent roster", as in we'll dump salaries of our current scrubs (Chinanu, etc).
Any thoughts on how the Bucks get better? I'm interested to see if they sign and trade Parker for a bigger piece.
You're overthinking this. The "minimum roster charge" isn't some lump amount. It's just a way to charge the team salary for things they must do (at a minimum) prior to the beginning of the season. Due to the fact every team must have 12 players (at a minimum), every spot you don't have filled* gets a caphold of $831,312, for the purposes of calculating capspace. * Getting filled means a player with guaranteed salary, player/team option that is still possible, FA Cap hold not yet renounced, 1st Round Draft picks. If those add up to less than 12, the empty spots are charged the min rookie salary until filled.
