The Patman kind of reminds me of Ron Artest with a better shot. Hopefully, he can defend like Artest.
I picked up a pre-draft ESPN magazine and was surprised that they had Patterson rated at "27." The Rockets have never, never been in sync with ESPN.
Probably explains why most of our picks end up being NBA talent. I wonder where they had Brooks and CBud? DD
Jefferies will be important next year as a defensive stopper. Its very possible that Battier or Ariza could be involved in a trade and that will make him even more important. He is one of the better defenders in the league, he just stink on offense. Very Battier like but defends the post much better and the perimeter not as well.
Not sure how athletic and explosive Artest was in his hey days - @ Bulls and Pacers Now he looks like a rock
I'd say Artest was pretty explosive and athletic enough back then. He did win the DROY back then, too.

I love the way this guy plays. If he does this with the Rockets we will be fine and I mean FINE!
IMO, I think that out of all the KY players to come out this year, with the exception of Wall, Patterson will be the most successful out of everybody...just the way he approaches the game...doesn't make much sense when people say that his ceiling his low in terms of getting better...I think the complete opposite is true...Before Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, and Orton, he really was the man...under the Billy Gillespie nonetheless...then took a backseat to everybody when they came in last year and playing for a new coach....developed a new area of his game by learning to shoot from outside...a guy like that who can succeed under different working conditions, learn new areas of the game = high basketball IQ and the potential to become a very good bastketball player, maybe not all-star quality, but a defenite potential 2nd or 3rd option down the line...
Everyone's talking about Hill breaking out, but honestly I have higher expectations for this man. Daryl Morey's #14 pick >>> any other team's #8 pick, in my book. By the end of the year, I believe Patterson should be good enough to be starting over Scola or Hill. He's not Bosh good but we don't need him to be. He has all the tools and athleticism of a player that can and should be at least as good as David West, maybe Carlos Boozer. And remember, both of those guys were underrated at the draft as well. The two most "traditional" PF's in the league, you could make the argument for.
Looked really good in his first game, let's see if he can do it again against the Mavs. Hope the success translates into the regular season.
Patterson NBA ready Patrick Patterson Is Ready To Contribute Right Away July 9th, 2010 Sebastian Pruiti If I told you that Patrick Patterson had the fifth highest Offensive Rating in the NCAA, you’d probably think that I am lying. It’s a true statement though, and Patterson’s offensive game is one of the reasons why I think the 14th overall pick for the Rockets will come in and make an impact right away. The first thing that you notice about Patrick Patterson is his body. He is a strong guy, and his combination of size and strength makes him the perfect type of player to use as a screener in a pick and roll set: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UcEZ2gGKX8w&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UcEZ2gGKX8w&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
