Yeah, when he is winning rookie of the year this season, I think you will be singing a different tune. DD
You're kidding.......... I'm an OSU (Oklahoma State) fan so I hate OU..........but every fan would LOVE to have a guy like Blake (actually he would've picked us had we offered his bro in the first place , because his Taylor Griffin initially favored us.......) Blake , assuming he comes back healthy, will be a beast because he's a smart kid and explosive and has good ball skills for a forward
One factor not measured at the combine is DESIRE to actually reach on defense. I bet Aaron Brooks has a better maximum reach on defense than Amare, given how little Amare cares about playing D. I'm actually very surprised that Patterson's max reach is greater than Tyson Chandler's. Either that's impressive or Chandler has one crappy vertical. Guys, I think he's just being sarcastic. Given the ridiculous discussion about Patterson's height, the sarcasm is welcome.
For people who are undecided on Patrick Patterson, I will take you step by step to find out what he is about. Youtube.com Kentucky Wildcats vs LSU......or any other team just an example and watch. You will get a feel for his game, its not far fetched to say that Patrick is as NBA ready as any player in the draft. Good Jumper, always in the right place at the right time, athletic, and he finishes with authority. It looks to me like the handles could use some work, but man, I love the pick.
Actually he's more undersized in ways that PP. His reach is only 8'9". I think it will be an issue for him against teams with bigger front lines.
He's got too much competition this year. Last season.. I would have said yes, he was a sure bet... this year not so much. But no I don't do sig bets DD. I love personalizing them too much
Huh??? Last time I checked, the NBA Draft was still only two rounds this year. Although, technically, there were 60 "other rookies" drafted this year, as opposed to "only" 59 others drafted last year besides Blake. (I know what you meant, btw.) Blake now has one full year of NBA training, practice, game film review and studying under his belt that these other guys simply don't have. And he's a beast. I actually think he should be the favorite for ROY. Wall and Turner could give him a run for his money. But gun to my head, I'd say Griffin.
I disagree. I think not having the continuity of competition from the NCAA to the NBA will hurt - that one year off of non-competitive b-ball is going to show. And...he's coming of an a fairly significant injury and has had a lot of them the last few years. I hope Blake does well but he has bust written all over him. I think he'll finish 2 or 3 in the rookie voting.
I don't know I think its going to take him a while to trust that knee again ... and regain his confidence. Wall on the hand will be given the reins from day one, not to mention he has a nice athletic front line to run with him on the fast break. I think Wall will have batter overall numbers than Rose and be a lot more efficient than Evans, giving him the ROY easily. --RB
He seems to be another Jordan Hill but in a shorter frame. With Scola/Hill and now Pat, where does that leave the rotation? Is he an insurance incase of Jordan being traded? Sometihing has got to give.
