I am very happy with the pick and very surprised he dropped so low. I get my autographed jersey in the next month since I am a new season ticket holder :p

What is wrong with taking the BPA?

Who was left that had "NBA STAR" written on him?

    Sometimes this board is preplexing.

Lu guess is he'll be a replacement for Landry and Hill if he gets traded for a certain Raptor power forward.

I see Patrick as our Landry replacement with a little less O and a little more D.

No kidding. All things considered, I thought it was a great pick. We could have drafted Lebron and there would be pissing and moaning on this board.

The more I read about Patterson the more I think we just found Battier's successor as the heart and goodness of this team.

This Man is very very impressive off the court.

agreed, and this guy is going to get even better with his strong work ethic. I don't think we could have done any better with what was available at #14. Solid pick for the Rockets and we retained all of the assets we came into the draft with, so we've got some great options for trade going forward.

Exactly, the UK team is so overrated. I would take only 2 players from UK in the first round as reasonable picks.

Overrated? Ha.. Just an extremely talented, immature team

Except for PatPat. He's not immature at all. They called him Gandpa.

What??? We need a fighter, one that will get into a team mates face, cuss out the coaches, and throw team mates under the bus. Not a get along guy that works hard, has high BBall IQ, and great for the locker room.

On lebigeez's question why the team didn't make the Final Four, that's easy: They got to the Elite Eight and then played one terrible game, losing to West Virginia. It's not like they lost in the first round of the tournament. Hell, they got further than Kansas, which was a better COLLEGE team than Kentucky.

As for your comment about only taking 2 UK players in the first round, you've GOT to be kidding me. John Wall, Demarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson are all CLEAR lottery picks. Even a Patterson hater would admit that he's no worse than a mid-first rounder. If you think Bledsoe and Orton are overrated, fine. I personally think Bledsoe will be a decent pro, and I'm not sold on Orton. But give me a break! Only two guys?!

I think he could be become a non-prick version of Carlos Boozer.

I'm sure its been said before in here, but barring a trade, it appears that he is our Landry replacement. His offensive game isn't where Landry's is, but he could make up for it with his additional height. Hopefully he can pound the offensive glass like Landry and give us that spark off the bench that we need. I would still love this team to add an athletic wing capable of scoring off the bench.

I do agree that the "team" was overrated. However, this doesn't invalidate the number of players as pro prospects. A lot of people forget that players get drafted as prospects for their potential, not how their teams fared in March. Also, if John Wall had an outside shot, the Wildcats would have gone much further in the tourney. The college 3 pointer and the zone defense is a great equalizer in the NCAA Tournament.

He's taller than Landry and he only has a 1 inch reach disadvantage compared with Boozer. I also think he comes in more polished than Landry. Landry was just a dunker in his first season and didn't really develop his mid range game until last season. Patterson already has more range than Landry. He hits college threes at a respectable clip.

I thought Landry already had a midrange jumper in college, he just didn't shoot it that much in his rookie season. I remember Adelman kept saying that Landry can hit the open jumper during his rookie season. I think Landry just wanted to stick to the high percentage shots in his first year.

Says a lot about Landry that a lottery pick's upside is him.

I can't wait to see what PP is all about but something tells me to temper those comparisons to Landry, Landry had that fire burning within to prove all the naysayers about his health and being drafted so low. Landry was a legit go to guy in the post too.

I'll admit that they similar players (undersized, hard workers and tough) but Landry never had the rebounding (Landry was the worst rebounding pf this year) and defensive prowess as Patterson. I think Patrick will be a better player than Landry ever was. And did you see his measurements? 7'1 wingspan, 8'11 standing reach, 33.5 max vertical and 5.3% body fat? Holy cow, we got ourselves a player!

I agree with everything you said, but as someone who suffers from Crohn's disease, I had to point out that Dejuan Wagner has Ulcerative Colitis (which is essentially the sister disease to Crohn's disease). No one knew how sick he was when he was drafted because he was afraid/embarrassed to talk about the symptoms he was suffering. He missed all of that time due to illness and I believe it was in his second year after being drafted that he had his entire colon was removed. Even still, he attempted a come back with Golden State. I'd call him a warrior for that. I sincerely doubt there has ever been anyone else to play an NBA game without a colon. As such, I don't quite feel it fair to put him on that list of slackers. I'm sure you were unaware and will completely agree with me.
