I think either Mario or Kenny mentioned it in an interview once. They weren’t implying that Hakeem demanded them to trade Sam... just that when Hakeem demanded the ball, most players would usually not think a second thought, but occasionally Sam would decide to try and exploit the expected double team and penetrate and pull-up, or penetrate and dish. And if Hakeem didn’t like it, he’d advise Rudy to put Kenny back in the game. As long as Hakeem was the focal point of the offense, there was never going to be much of a role for a ball dominant/play-making PG (which Sam was). And as the era of ball-dominant/play-making guards has taken over... its no coincidence that the low-post scoring big man has also gone by the wayside.
At the end of the day they beat us 4-0 so they deserved to win. Looking at the stats, Drexler played well and Olajuwon was average (for his standards). The rest of the team was sub par. https://www.basketball-reference.co...erence-semifinals-rockets-vs-supersonics.html
I wouldn't. I'll take interesting over boring any day of the week when it comes to artistic design. Slightly tangential, but the Celtics logo, BTW, is tacky and ugly... AND somehow also boring, at least in combo with their uniforms. Probably because it's so old.
Interesting... If that's true, makes me wonder how Hakeem felt about the few games he played with Stevie, heh. Of course, he was a shell of his former glory at that point, so I'm sure his mentality was quite different, but still.
Besides the abusive illegal defense every play to go with ervin johnson, frank brickowski , steve scheffler and sam perkins hacking hakeem every play the geniuses from nbc and the nba decided to make the rockets play gm 1 at seattle saturday afternoon after beating the lakers 36 hours earlier thursday night. I thought this was bullcrap, biased and unfair because the chicago bulls were off 5 days and didnt play till sunday. Not asking for 5 days just be fair and schedule a sunday gm for hou in that situation. If you look at that series the next 3 games were super close and in my view the refs decided the games by throwing out to basic foundation of the rulebook to cater to the sonics.
They did the same thing to us the year before we wrap up in Utah on Sunday and then we play game 1 in Phoenix on Tuesday night. They also had us play back to back at home in games 3 and 4 vs Phoenix. The only thing that made 96 not as bad is Seattle was going on the same amount of rest.
