Astros are asking $185m over 28 years for naming rights to Astros field. Enron deal was $100m over 30 years. Who's gonna be stupid enough to pay that?
I've always been of the opinion, if you don't ask, you won't get it. That's a lot, but it's easier to come down than go up on the price. Maybe the Enron deal had some side deal that we don't know about. Or, maybe they're just trying to price Mac out of the bidding. I guess that the Gallery Furniture Field doesn't appeal to them.
Exactly. Seems like an agressive opening bid, but if players are still coming to the table, you know they are at least somewhat interested. If not, you're price can always go down. Plus, I think Drayton took it on the chin with the whole Enron thing, he's a little bitter, and there are a number of changes that need to be made to the ballpark.
It's a hitters ballpark, for sure, but I think you saw a mroe realistic version of what it will b e like last year, not the year before, in which it got its reputation. That said, I think it woudl be cool to get rid of the Crawford boxes and extend the second level out to where they are, so that youd have to hit it to the folks in the second level stands to get a home-run. But that can't happen.
