I had to come in here and pay tribute to my favorite player as well. Watching the 8 points in 9 seconds miracle was AWESOME, and the way he came at the MSG fans was amazing. Here's to a skinny dude who shot the lights out of the building... *cheers*

Great picture. I've had that set as my wallpaper several times.

I remember the first time I really watched Reggie was in the '94 playoffs, against the Knicks of course. Everybody seemed to be hating on him for all the trash talking and going back and forth with Spike, but for some reason I was in awe of the guy. There really was no reason to like him from his antics back then, because you didn't really see the class...yet there was just something electric about his game and his shot that drew my attention. Coming off those picks, catching a pass, and hitting a ridiculous turnaround 3 when it mattered the most.

My personal favorite moment was in '98 with the game-winner against the Bulls in the playoffs. They really had a chance to end the dynasty that year, but let it slip away.

I'm glad he spent his whole career in Indy though...we may never see 18 years in one city again. (Though all these years I secretly wished he would end up in Houston, somehow ;))

I didn't know Reggie before 1994. Then I listened to his playoff games vs the Knicks on the radio. I remember being amazed as the announcer kept saying, "Reggie Miller, off the screen, ANOTHER 3!". I think Reggie made 5 3's in the 4th quarter to stun the Knicks, and then taunted the crowd afterwards.

After that, I kept my eye on that guy. I loved that he relished his villain role, especially his trash talking with Spike Lee. It was like there were two games going on, one on the court, and the other in the minds of the Knicks. He elevated his game in the playoffs, and had an heir of invincibility against the Knicks especially.

Some other moments I loved: running across the press table after hitting a game winning shot, showing the choke sign after beating another team, his 8 points in 9 seconds, and his 3-pointer to beat the Bulls.

you didn't tell the truly memorable part of the story. after the call, the indiana fans got so mad that they started throwing all sorts of paper cups and crap onto the court. they had to stop the game for a while to clean it up and wait for it to stop. pretty much the only time i can ever remember that happening in a basketball game.

If it weren't for Jordan, he probably would have won at least 1 championchip.

Miller is slightly overrated, he could never consistenly put a team on his back and carry them to victory and he was a horrible athlete

on a side note, i had some pretty bad flashbacks to the rivalry between the sonics & rockets in the 1990s when i saw sleepy sam during the jersey retiremnet ceremony

Ridiculous statement. He absolutely carried those Pacers teams deep into the playoffs, losing heartbreakers in the Eastern Conference Finals twice.

Reggie had role players like Rik Smits and the Davis Brothers backing him up. If Reggie wasn't carrying that team, I don't know who was.

There are only a very few players who can put a team on their back and carry them to the NBA Finals, and those guys (MJ, Hakeem, Isiah, etc) all had plenty of help if you analyze their teams carefully.
