Yeah, cutting Douglas has sounds like a great option right now. He is not a bad player but we have better players on the roster.

It's a tough one, but right now, I would take Douglas over Machado. Even though Machado is a much better passer and seems to run the offense well, I think Douglas is a much defender. I would like to use Douglas to slow down some of the top PGs in the West.

He has had some moments but the dude just has ZERO ability to finish a play. I would rather keep Machado based on potential. But I don't know salary implications. I'm not sold on Livingston either. I guess I won't be too concerned no matter who we cut, if it's a PG.

Douglas likely isn't getting cut because he's a vastly superior defender to Machado and is owed nearly $2.1 million. That said, I think they might find room for both on the roster.

    Douglas isn't "free." That's a common misconception.

Sure, the Knicks threw in about $2M in cash, in part, to cover Toney Douglas's nearly $2.1M salary. But that was just CASH, a completely fungible asset. It does not somehow reduce Douglas's salary or his cap hit for the Rockets.

Personally, I'd cut Smith but knowing McHale and Morey, they will probably keep him because they feel there aren't enough big men with potential languishing on our bench praying for garbage time minutes.

I know people like to go with what's new, and Morris has a bad rookie season...

but anyone who actually thinks he's a worse prospect than MacHado is deluding themselves bigtime.

Would machado be willing to sign with the vipers? I think another team would take a flyer on him as the 13th man so I'm not sure that would work.

I seem to be the only one who thinks Forbes will be the last cut.

    1. Smith looks like he's gonna stay.
    2. Morey seems to like Machado a lot.
    3. I still don't believe Douglas will be cut. His contract and his defensive skills, plus his solid rookie season are just too much to just let go.

So it comes down to Livingston and Forbes. I personally prefer keeping Livingston. But I am not the GM or the coach.

post #74 pretty much said it, and sounds like that's the plan.

They have to keep the young guys. Time to cut Brockman, Livingston and Forbes.

Machado and JJJ have too much potental.

I guess you didn't watch JJJ play. If Morey is keeping Douglas and Machado I don't expect them to keep Livingston too.

What's the point of having THAT many potential? It's already difficult to allocate minutes as it stands, having two more players to develop would only serve to stunt the progress of other rookies.

Still Brockman, JJJ, and Forbes... But I wish JJJ could stay.
