How so? IN your own post you prove my point... And Palin's daughter has her own brain, and own opinion. It can differ from her Mom's. Which I'm sure she'll still be "touting" - Just because a family does not line up fully to your personal wishes... your "family values" don't change. But a parent's love... a good parent anyway... is unconditional. This will only serve to strengthen people's views of her in the long. Tell me you know no one with a similar story. Someone you know has a similar story. And not every parent is as supportive, while unwavering. Some people see what they want to.. and real whackos would see their child as an outcast at this point... but Palin has openly embraced her child in this matter... because she understands that life must go on... love must continue. Many in this bbs have said they were raised to abstain from premarital sex... but even some who might say they will teach their kids that, or did, did not necessarily follow through on those good intentions... I'd be willing to wager that many that did have an out of wedlock child would have loved to have full parental support. Most don't. NEXT
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...bristol_palins_pregnancy_was_an_open_sec.html He's 18. They've dated for a year. They're engaged. And everyone back home knows about it.
If it is a punch in the nose, that crowd is known to grin and bear it with a **** faced grin. Like you mentioned before in your awesome post, they'll circle the wagons around her and call her courageous against adversity or other hyperbolic BS like that. I have the suspicion that the religious right doesn't really care about a demogauge's personal and sometimes hypocritical flaws but rather the absolute cause he/she is trying to impose on everyone else. The only reason they'd burn one of their own is if it hurts their cause's image. Otherwise, everything is peachy keen and business as usual.
Palin's daughter is a minor she's still responsible for her actions and her behavior. The fact that she as a public official does not support sex education in schools and yet her own teenage daughter is a pregnant minor speaks to her judgement. What does her own child's pregnancy say about her ability to provide leadership and guidance as she creates the public policies that may deprive your child of the oppportunity to receive sex education in school and perhaps avoid an unwanted pregnancy?
So that makes it good for a 17 year old to become pregnant? It isn't an issue for the election, but do you really think 17 year old girls who should be getting pregnant when neither she nor the father have any means to support themselves? Who cares that the he is 18 and everyone knows about it? Why does that make it OK?
Maybe Bristol's baby will grow up to run for president since Obama was also conceived when his mother was 17.
And if the shoe was on the other foot right now, anyone would be labeled a racist for mentioning the "44 year old grandma in the white house" comment made earlier. The double standards are ridiculous. Many don't understand that before you preach family values, you must understand the value of family. Palin values her daughter above any poor choices her daughter may have made... that much is obvious. The fact that these attacks are being posted to, and continue to come from, a board that has shown it could have just as easily happened to them in this thread is even more ridiculous. Wow. D&D - Where everyone is 100% right, and all is forgiven... so long as it's my view. I can disagree with Repubs... and I do. I've called out T_J and others before. I can agree with Dems... and I do. I even voice it by posting that I agree... but wow. Some just can't make themselves learn when the line is not crossable.
this is ridiculous, why would someone call that racists. its a factual statement, she's a forty one year old soon to be grandma.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26501011/ That pretty much sums up my feelings on this matter...this shouldn't be about Palin's mothering abilities and certainly shouldn't be about the daughter. The only issue this raises is Palin's staunch support of abstinence only programs and their effectiveness. And that is a legitimate issue.
and for the people who keep mentioning obama's mom, neither her nor her mother were vice presidential candidates.
If Palin has a change of heart on abstinence programs, then I'll admire her for trying to change a flawed situation and doing her best to fix it. I think most liberal partisans here would not normally care of a teen pregnancy, but for Palin to say abstinence policies work and with a straight face pursue a continuance of the bizarre sex-ed kids get today, that does deserve some discussion. Maybe it's a different mindset. Religious conservatives think the criticism is about judging Palin and her daughter. Liberals bring it up to focus attention on sex ed programs and the restrictions Moral Conservatives place on them. There is a lot of nastiness in between, but the difference is keen if there should be some understanding between the two sides.
I agree that this is a private issue and should be left alone and that the family should deal with it. The only real issue is the feelings on abstinence that Palin has on the subject. If you wish to discuss it though, so be it. It certainly didn't stop the Republicans from going after Clinton though, even though I consider that a private, family matter.
its not just a private issue, a teenage daughter having a baby is a stressful situation for the family. this has nothing to do with her parenting ability or judgement or whatever. it is a pragmatic issue. edit: i actually don't care about her stance on abortion or sex education or whatever (although that's highly ironic and funny) but I do care about how much time she is going to put into this job. she now will essentially have six kids
We all know it's a waste of funds. We all learn about it from our friends anyway. Obama never heard anything bad at that church either. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/H64yKJhB528&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/H64yKJhB528&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> moot point
