If you are pro choice, and agree it is her choice, then think about the fact that if McCain and her mom win, and overturn Roe v. Wade, it will not be her choice anymore.

A self-righteous hypocritical douche? But I can't tell just yet whether some or all parts are an act. (maybe you are not truly self-righteous and hypocritical)

If it is truly an act, you can work on your presentation so the line isn’t so confused and we can take your contributions tongue and cheek, like this fellow….

And not taking measures to halt the spread of wars, poverty, disease, lack of health care and bad medicine (e.g., back alley abortions) don’t kill persons? Including innocents? Yet you have pretty much said yourself the only issue that matters to you is abortion.

So you would ignore good medical practice because of 1 personal experience? Births can happen within the hour or over 24 hrs later--that is why they call the mom to be in pronto. In fact OBGYNs get very testing if the baby hasn’t been delivered 24 hours after the water breaking because of the risk of infection. It was a pretty crazy (and def brought risks to the unborn baby) for her to get on that flight. Seems particularly odd to condone that behavior for someone who has stated the unborn baby is the only thing important to you.

But maybe we are all just part of the female genitalia crowd, as you like to say...

Odd again to use that as an insult, but then you feel an absolute right to control in the opposite sex because they are life bearing spiritual organs.

Something doesn't compute with you. But again maybe your efforts are just an exercise to provoke, and then I hope the time I took to cut and paste makes it clear for the BBS.

I don't see why this is such a big deal to some people. Except for those desperately looking for dirt on Palin. I get why they'd be all over this.

Does this reflect badly on Sarah Palin as a parent? Maybe. We don't know much about the Palin family though, so I think it's unfair to make that assumption.

Does this hurt McCain politically? Not really. The pro-life crowd will love that Bristol is marrying the father and keeping the baby. Again, the Palin clan puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to their stance on abortion.

And I think the left better be really careful about going after her family this way. She's been the VP nominee for 3 days and already there has been a smear campaign against her Down Syndrome baby. There have already been people in the media who've questioned whether she should even be running for VP because she won't be able to care for her kids(funny how no male candidates get that question). And now there are people piling on Sarah Palin and her daughter over her pregnancy.

Backlash by women voters is the last thing Obama wants. He's told everyone to lay off of Palin's family though, so fortunately he's wise enough to know the ramifications of these sorts of attacks.

Actually, you have no idea about this and are just guessing. We'll have to wait and see. The distraction to McCain's campaign could be huge. This is not the intro they wanted for Palin.

It is interesting to some people because Palin opposes sex education in schools.

That's the only slight issue on this whole deal. If she opposes it at school, but wasn't successful teaching it at home then that creates a slight glitch.

I certainly hope the election doesn't hinge on this kind of minor crap though. There are so many more important issues to be discussed.

This is the big thing for them. This week is the first opportunity to introduce the country to Palin, and now the headlines (relating to her) will all be about TrooperGate and the baby situation. It's just not the rollout they wanted.

Most of the GOP people didn't know either - since McCain wanted to keep the pick a secret, that also meant that the rest of the GOP was kept in the dark, so they are learning these things as we are.

Her VP speech is going to be huge in trying to introduce her on their own terms.

    Agreed.

However, this is a big deal to me, because it's a textbook example of the hypocrisy of the religious right. Not because it says anything about Palin or her family, except a bit of irony...

Somewhere on page 1, someone mentioned a double standard - and there is no denying it in regards to this story.

Reading some of these posts makes me want to puke. Because it's so-and-so's candidate, we should respect privacy. Because it's so-and-so's candidate, we should understand that these sorts of things happen. Because it's so-and-so's candidate, we'll forget all about a certain tired, ineffective, and ludicrous campaign to hide sex from our children instead of teaching them how to be responsible. Because it's so-and-so's candidate, suddenly all our outrage about unwed mothers and teen pregnancy as a sign of the moral decay of America is pushed to the back-burner.

Because it's so-and-so's candidate, we'll suddenly remember how jesus chastised those who judged - only to "forget" again tomorrow when asked if a gay man should be allowed to see his partner in the hospital.

I don't care about the political implications. I don't care about what this may or may not indicate about Palin's capabilities. I care that these sanctimonious assholes, these "conservative" pundits, are suddenly so incensed at anyone even mentioning this story. And it's obvious why...

    Hypocrites. Damned hypocrites.

Totally unrelated to my last post, but I do think this does reinforce the "maverick" weirdness that is John McCain.

I like that he knew about this and did not let it influence his decision - it's like a kiss to the religious right, followed by a punch in the nose.

I'm not sure why McCain decided to take this ever-increasingly large gamble, but it certainly makes him less the run-of-the-mill panderer to the god crowd...

BTW - Your fearless leader is saying to drop this issue.

He said "all family issues" are "off limits."

Typical Dems... not listening... even to your own nominee.

Only republicans will drop these issues..and trust me...Im sure all of the issues are not out yet. This woman will be under a microscope for the next two months..everything about her history to be the VP of the USA.

Obama is doing and saying the right thing. But he can only contain those who are employed by him. Just because someone decides to vote for him, he doesn't tell us what to think or do. He is our nominee, not our daddy or king. If he gets in office and screws up like Bush, we will fry him too!

So no matter how much you scream, even if everyone on this board dropped all these issues, it will NOT go away in the national media. So buckle up buddy!

People have brains and opinions of their own.

A far right wing conservative touting family values as she reveals they have an unwed pregnant teenage daughter. That's pretty amusing any way you slice it.
