I agree, I think many are overestimating how easy it would be to catch this guy when in good shape. There's just so much space. I'm not sure where I stand on this, but I'm inclined to call this excessive. It would be great if they throw every single charge they could on him and make an example of him though.

Good to get another viewpoint. He actually ran toward 2 players before being cut-off/tased. Those guys weren't even close to catching him.

Are you serious? Look If I talk sh** to a cop, it does not mean that I am going to get violent, but he is going to treat me like I MIGHT get violent. WAS THERE ANYTHING THREATING ABOUT HIM? Heck yeah, he step onto the field. PD has to treat everyone like there are a threat. If you want to call that lazy go ahead, but the cop did his job right
I can't believe there is such an outrage over a dumb ass getting tased. Not shot, not beat up but tased. He's lucky he just got tased. Stupid people running onto games should heed the warning.

On September 24, 1999, while playing with the Houston Astros, Spiers was attacked by a 23 year old man while standing in the outfield before the bottom of the 6th inning. Teammate Mike Hampton was first on the scene and delivered several kicks to the attacker. He was later quoted saying "The good thing was he didn't have a weapon... I always check right field before I deliver the first pitch. It's just a habit. I looked out there and saw the guy on Billy's back... It was a scary thing. My instincts just took over. My rage took over. I was pretty furious. I wanted to get him off my teammate." After being arrested the attacker faced two counts of battery and one count of disorderly conduct. [1] Spiers wound up with a welt under his left eye, a bloody nose and whiplash. I think there should be heavy punishments on this type of behavior. 120 hours of community service would be a good start. Plus getting tased in front of 40 thousand people :grin:

This wasn't hard to find at all: As has been pointed out, there's no way to know if he could have been a possible threat or not. Even if there was a way to rule him out as a threat in a matter of seconds like that, I'm not convinced that tackling is less safe than a taser. # of injuries due to tackling > # of injuries caused by tasers.
