I suspect Bill Spiers approves of tasering anyone who runs on to a field. You never know if they are doing it for "fun" or if their intent is to attack a player.

I'll agree that one's shape shouldn't be the excuse for tasing someone, however the kid was obviously out there causing a disruption and had the opportunity to give up. He didn't and chose to be an ass. He deserved to be tased. He's probably luck some big ass dude didn't tackle and injure him.

Just seems like a little too severe of action for someone trespassing at a sporting event.

Shows a lack of effort/ability and quite a bit of laziness on the part of the Cop.

Was he a danger to the cops? No. Was he a danger to the players? No. Was he a danger to the fans? No. If someone wants to make a case otherwise, please, I'd love to hear why that kid looked dangerous or threatening instead of just goofy/attention seeking.

He was just being stupid and inconveniencing people, seems a little excessive and reactionary. I'd like to see officers use a little more judgment and discretion when deploying weapons like that, "i'm too fat" is not a justifiable reason, "he's dangerous" is.

If you want to argue safety of a taser vs. tackle on a 17 year old... I'd have to think tackle wins.

^ Taserin' him puts an end to a chase and it's less of a physical struggle, plus there's less risk someone gets injured. They have the tasers at their disposal for a reason and this was a good one. It ends it... shall we say... in an electrifying way?

Pretty pathetic that a group of 6 fatties can't catch a kid running in circles, so they have to taser him. I think it's sad that cops/security can't do their jobs any more without resorting to a taser.

Yep. The guy who tased this kid should get a promotion :p

I don't see why there are so many people who feel bad for the kid. People should respect rules or suffer the consequences for doing stuff they shouldnt be doing.

Tasering someone is less physically harmful/painful/risky than tackling them?

Hey Mr. Goodell, think I just found a solution to that concussion problem you guys have been having.

No cap bashing here strictly fatty bashing my friend. My main point is if this cop was in shape like he should be for his job. This would of ended with a swift tackle but because he is full of lard he resorted to his taser.

Liberals love to bash cops and defend thieves etc becuase they are thieves. They know all about it, they justify taking what they believe to be theirs. That's why they cry for people who get beaten for breaking into others property. Personal responsibility does not exist in the post-obama world. The law-breaker is always the victim.

The kid didn't even look like he was in much pain. He fell down, didn't shake around, and was up and walking under his own power a few seconds later.

Not really, it's more about having police that are capable of doing their job (both physically and mentally) and protecting your right to not have excessive force used against you by law enforcement or in other words, to not get your ass fried for doing something relatively harmless.

Exactly, the introduction of the taser has become a motive to make cops lazy. Like I said, the kid was running in circles, and 6 fatties couldn't catch him? pathetic. He was trespassing but he wasn't harming anyone.

Unfortunately you can't read his mind. Spiers was attacked by a fan on ran on the field. The first base coach for the Royals was attacked by fans who ran on the field.

He may not have physically hurt anyone, yet, but his actions were needlessly delaying the game.

What would your reaction be if an in shape cop caught him, slammed him to the ground and inadvertantly broke the kid's nose in the process?
