DD- you know we are on opposite sides of JVG I really believe though if you sat down with him for 30 minutes and discussed the team with him you would see it different. Perception is alot of what we get from the media and observation; what I discovered was that he wasn't a control freak, dogmatic, my way or the highway, defense only, offense sucks person at all. He IS all about winning and I think alot more insightful than you think. I understand why players love to play for him. Steve would play for him again.
I think JVG is a very smart man, someone who is dedicated to his job, my problem with him is in his lack of creativity or adjustments. JVG will outwork anyone in the regular season, but once the playoffs start, teams will figure out his stuff, and counter it....and JVG never counters back, he just says....work harder. I like JVG as a person, I just think someone else needs to lead the team to the promised land. Rhester, I respect your JVG take and Donkeys and Carl Herreras....but for crying out loud the guy got FIRED.....let him go.... Or should we start discussing how V-Span would be the answer to this year's team problems? DD
Did Van Gundy ever talk about why they wanted Sefalosa instead of Gay? I mean, didn't they need a 2/3 to replace Wesley on the roster? Draft Gay, move McGrady to the 2. Makes a lot of sense. Gay might not have developed as fast under Van Gundy. But considering Battier hasn't done anything to get out of the 1st round, and his never been out of the 1st round himself, it was a waste. Battier's a good role player, but he's not Bruce Bowen or Robert Horry. He's not going to step up and become a big factor. Gay could have been that.
