I tuned in after it had already started... maybe he said that in the first half of the interview? I'm sure the Rockets are trying to do that, but very hard to pull off.
I loved his quote:" Sometimes... having too much is just as bad...... as..... having too little." It was in reference to our guards.
The Three Es of success. Something we all should live by. Screw being catholic and christian, I'm a believer of Gundyism.
I think this is because jvg was Yao's coach and tought Yao how to play this year. He made Yao this way. If he was not Yao's coach before, Yao would be another diffrent Yao, and he wouldn't be the perfect coach for Yao. This is just like that, the thing you made, and only you know how to use it.
I head some of this. He's just such a great interviewer, and it is seen in his game commentary. No question, though, it was time for him to go. With the right talent, I think he could win a championship, but I think most coaches could. The best coaches seperate themselves in 2 ways: (1) with the right talent, win multiple championships, (2) with not the right talent, win championships, or get consistently close. JVG is almost in that second category as a coach. Great great guy, though.
I agree. There really is no better coach for Yao than Carroll Dawson. Wait, you said JVG? You're smoking what now? CD > Tom Thibodeau any way of the week.
lets just say if i could choose to have dinner with one, it would be JVG every day of the week and twice on sunday i think there is plenty of room to question whether it was or was not time for him to go.
we really need to have hakeem as Yao's special personal coach... but damn...Dream is in Jordan these days most parts of the year..
Nah, what we really need is for our players to grow up and police themselves....they are old enough to not need a babysitter anymore. DD
nice! The problem with this team is that it lost its leader, in JVG. The second problem is that the rockets only leader was, in fact, the coach.
