Someone should call to attention the difference in Yao Ming's playing time this season. He hasn't been in foul trouble that much, and when he's on the floor that many minutes, it is almost impossible for the opposing center to not foul out. I truly believe if the refs officiated Yao like they did Shaq circa turn of the millennium, he'd get to the line an insane amount of times and average 30+ ppg.
On your show, Clutch, please address the minutes allocation Fri putting Brooks into the finisher's role while benching the guy who plays better the more minutes he plays (sic). Additionally, please address the facility with which AB can get the ball into Yao's hands v any/all other Rox 1's. Finally, please set the record straight on any thoughts Morey and/or Alexander and/or Adelman have re: the nascent talents of the Houston Kid, Gerald (his game is) Green. Thanks! x
Another trade piece I have wanted to hear talked about is JJ Redick. Maybe not disclosing anything, if Morey goes on 1560 again like he did last week could someone remember to call in and ask what he thinks about the guy as a player, whether or not he can make a contribution to teams and such. He probably wouldn't give anything away though if he really desired a player.
Question for the guys, What if the Rockets never traded T-Mac and stuck with Francis, Mobley and Yao?
I wonder what you think about Yao coming off bench against Jazz and Warriors? Against Jazz, this will reduce the need for Yao to guard Boozer, which was a major issue for Yao.
Thanks guys for the support and posting topics/questions here during the show ... I appreciate it. The show will probably be available later today in the podcasts section of their site.
Tomorrow morning's show will be half-hour because their show overall is shorter due to Super Bowl Sunday. Please feel free to call in or post questions/topics you'd like to hear discussed in this thread. Thanks ...
the other night, with 7:20 left in the 2nd against the warriors, bill worrell made a comment, and it has stuck with me for a few days now. he said, "the rockets are running more. t-mac, if he handles the ball, will not run it up the court this fast. the rockets are moving the ball up at a little quicker pace." i'm wondering if t-mac is the reason it took so long for the team to accept adleman's system. they seemed to play improved ball while he was out. and obviously he's been back a couple of games now and the rockets have won, but the offensive flow seems off a bit from when he was out. what tweaks can be made to speed the offensive flow while keeping him an active part of the lineup? also, why is it he walked the ball up rather than pushing it (a la phoenix) as they were while he out... yao was even in on several of these processions, so i don't think he can be assigned the blame for a slow it down, half court, van gundy offense.
I'll catch the podcast sometime soon. Here's my question of the week: have you in all your years as a sports fan seen a more brutal basketball schedule than these four games in five days? 3/18 Boston 3/19 @ New Orleans 3/21 @ Golden State 3/22 @ Phoenix Someone needs to file a formal complaint to the league office because at that point we are basically forfeiting games which we would have under normal circumstances had chances to win.
