How can you guys compare styles when each of the PGs that were mentioned also played in a system that was tailor made to their style.

Nash is in the discussion, at least for me.

even if that's the case, he has only done it for 4 years now. the years he had in dallas, he was just a good all-star reserve.

the guys i mentioned did it for a decade's worth. they've been just as dominant (if not more so) over a longer period of time.

to be great, you gotta do it with consistency. 4 great years are not enough to be in the best discussion for guys who did it 10-11 years.

But those guys were not all great for 10 or 11 years or at least DOMINATE during those years...

Stockton was a great assist guy but didn't score as much as Nash.....Oscar Robertson played in an era where he was pretty much an athletic freak comparable to today's players.

Magic Johnson was the greatest PG ever, IMHO.....but even he played on a showtime team that ran and had a big guy protecting the basket.

Gary Payton was awesome on D, but I would still take Nash over Payton due to his effeciency on offense and ability to create for others.

Isaiah was amazing, and great all around.

Jason Kidd - awesome assist guy, who also played in a system tailor made for his talents, look how he is struggling in Dallas, I would take Nash over Kidd.....because Kidd simply can not shoot.

So, I still think Nash is in the discussions.....

DWill is @4" taller and 2 stone bigger/stronger than AB. Jameer Nelson? Strong candidate for worst contract in the Association. TJ is an injury away, in one direction, from greatness and in the other, tragedy. I'd be thrilled if Brooks could develop into Ford. I, with my great insight in tact, have been unable to buy into him as the 1 for the future - but, I could be missing something. I hope I am missing something!

Steve Francis, if he can handle the loss of the moniker Stevie Franchise, could be valuable.

IMHO there are only two ways to significantly upgrade the Point: Brooks becomes what Adelman saw in him in college or TMac gets moved in a deal for a top flight 1.

I am one of Magic's all-time supporters, yet if he played in another O he might not have been 'Magic'. Would he have flourished under a Red Holtzman or Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan? Magic played little D, yet disrupted passing lanes and boarded fanatically.

Do not diminish Nash for making D'Antoni a 'genius'. I'd 'kill' to have Nash qb'ing this Rocket team to the Finals! Best ever? Nah, but dadgum, the guy is a terrific ballplayer. One of the All Timers!!!

after paul and deron finish their careers, nash won't be in the top 10 that's for sure. nash really only had 4 great years counting this year.

paul and deron THIS YEAR already have a year better than nash statistically and they're still extremely young. paul this year is better than nash in all of his 4 years.

nash is great, but i doubt he can lead this team if he had to play half-court most of the time. you have to remember what nash's stature was when he was in dallas. he was never considered an all-nba type of player nor MVP-caliber.

Thanks again for the time.......My wife was like...."we have to pack, wtf are you doing calling a radio program"

She doesn't understand the Rockets addiction !!!

And looking at the FAgents coming up is a great thing to talk about...who might be a target for the all the Rockets expirings.

    Andre Miller?

With TJ's injury issues, I would rather keep Brooks, Adelman's offense does not need a PG that can set the table all the time, but rather a PG that can shoot and finish as well as pass.

If we bring in Mike Miller,,,, why not move Tmac to the PG spot....

You start Tmac, Shane and Miller.

    Problem solved.

    Joking? Me? Since when !

    ;)

I am out guys....wife laying down the law.......Good looking out !

One last thing, I am actually flying during the game, and am having to DVR both the UT game and the Rockets game, that is what you get for letting your wife make the flight reservations....

So, the first 2 hours I will be in Vegas will be spent in front of my lap top watching the SlingBoxed replay of the game......

    GO ROCKETS !!

The perfect PG for this team is DJ Augustine !

Thanks Dakota for the call... also John in DC, you always do a great job.

John -- One thing you asked about that we didn't get to is a backup center for the Rockets through the draft -- you mentioned Robin Lopez and Hasheem Thabeet. I haven't done as much research for the draft yet as I like since we're in the 20's, but I really think Daryl Morey and staff's philosophy at that pick range is "best player available", regardless of position.

On those guys though, I like Lopez (just for the bloodlines :)) -- really depends on where the Rockets pick though. Guys with very good size generally go higher than their talent merits.

Thanks again for the comments and call.

Can you talk about the injuries to Rafer, T-Mac, and Landry (with whom no problems are reported but we all can see something's wrong)? I haven't heard anything about them recently and would like an update.

    Thanks
