Any posts after this one we will try to discuss on tomorrow morning's show. Feel free to call-in (number: 713-439-1560) to discuss Rockets topics as well. Thanks...
Clutcht, what are you hearing about Gerald Green? What made the Rockets give up on him so soon? Thanks.
Are there any 'long-term' plans (i.e. roster spots for next season) by Rox brass for Williams/Harris/Green? Corrollarily, next season's point guard situation portends to be as crowded as last october's (just substitute Bobby Jax ofr James): is this the plan forward at this guard spot? Thanks, gentlemen - and let there be a 16 game winning streak - starting with the 21st game from now!
Several points and thoughts: 1. We're getting painfully thin upfront. I don't expect Justin Williams getting into the rotation anytime soon either, hence why we're thin. 2. Slowly bring Carl Landry back, do not rush him back. Think long term. 3. Get Mike Harris acclimated to system and get him minutes asap. This TMac playing the whole game is NOT going to fly. 4. We're playing out of our minds and above our heads, I'm afraid to say. I love the streak but that is the sense I'm getting when watching us now. 5. Relying too much on outside shots lately, we just haven't had collective bad nights yet. Can we win games that we have bad outside shooting nights, that's our next challenge. 6. My take on Gerald Green waived: coaches saw no potential in him and wanted to take gamble on Mike Harris instead.
When does Rick Adelman get some credit for the Defense as well as the Offense The Rockets are playing much better than I had imagined I remember in 93-94 . . .a friend said the Rockets were just playing a Different Brand of basketball than anyone else. I beleive that is the case now T-Mac looks better than he has in years Team Ball is the style of the day Rocket River
Though Adelman is getting a lot of the credit, I think the assistants may be getting overlooked. This could be a big difference from the JVG days. By hiring assistants who game plan the defensive approach rather than buddies, i.e. Patrick Ewing, I think Adelman has brought a new team coaching approach. I don't think we'd have the streak without the great defensive game planning from the assistant staff.
I tend to think it's more because Landry got hurt, and they figure Harris can help a lot more right now than Green can. Harris kinda strikes me as Landry-lite: little better long-range shot and handles, little worse everything else. This team has been living off of energizer-bunny players like Scola, Battier, Hayes, and Landry. Harris brings that energy. Green never will.
Looking ahead to this week: vs. NJN Tmac will get a chance to vindicate his 19-game losing streak with Orlando by leading Houston to 19 straight @ ATL The 1993-1994 Rockets 15-game win streak was ended at Atlanta. We need to win this game for Hakeem, Otis, Vernon, et al. vs. CHA Charlotte is in North Carolina, the same state that produced the college basketball team that kept Akeem and Clyde from winning a title. We must break the Bobcats. vs. LAL Kobe the Rapist must DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow...umm, i'll be glad for the wins but that's reaching just a little bit. do we really need to win the atlanta game for otis thorpe?
Clutch, 1. What are your thoughts on the release of Gerald Green? 2. Any updates on Landry's injury? 3. Last week you said that the streak will end against the Mavs, any new predictions when the streak will end? Thanks!
appreciate it, I'm 3 mins in pt.2 of the segment for the record, I'm not a baller and purchase the suite as Clutch said I just collect the money and pay up front, I don't want people emailing me to get them in that I purchased a suite for the night btw, good to talk to you Clutch, wasn't sure how it worked, just said what I wanted to say and listened in. Again, your always welcome to a gathering, our treat
i couldn't bring myself to get up today just listened; they didn't take many calls, but that's fine. great show today. good call on the spurs loss, and subsequent loss to seattle in the 2nd round. but for me it is def. the stockton shot in '97. followed by the '05 whipping in game 7 by the mavs
