    I'm in France so I can't call.

Do you guys think getting homecourt advantage in the first round without Yao is a possibility ? The Suns are having a tough time with Shaq, the Mavs aren't in a confortable situation, the Hornets may not be able to keep their good results. We're closer to the top than to the door. The Rockets are really confident and have impressive team chemistry, I don't see any other team beside the Lakers who have such confidence, and the media has left them out. The next games will be very indicative of our chances, but I think we can shock a lot of people.

Say hi to all the fans global who follow all the games in the middle of the night.

    DD's thoughts on trades.

Suns - lost, got bigger slower and lost their identity.

Dallas - Lost, got older, slower and worse on defense

Lakers - BIG win....unreal that trade

    San Antonio - Even.....maybe a little win.

    Houston - Win....

    Utah - Win

    Aaron Brooks impressive...Mike Harris impressive.

Glad Morey knows more than us.

Without Yao and with Deke not able to play as many minutes, the Rockets guards are going to have to work harder to stay in front of the penetrating guards in the Western Conference.

Morey didnt know more than us. Morey offered Landry 1 year partially guaranteed contract so Morey had an option to cut Landry and get below luxury tax.

If Landry had a sharp learning curve, Morey might have already cut Landry from the roster.

He knew more than us. He knew to draft him, when the whole board went "Who?".

If he knew more than us landry wouldn't have been like the 15th guy to make the roster. He was giving him the lowest amount of almost any draft pick. If knew better he would have told his coaching staff to play landry more.

He was 1st team all big ten. Not like he was nobody. He was pretty good in college. Most of the board probally doesn't watch a lot ncaa.

I think the main thing with Landry is they saw a guy who plays hard on both ends and had a good offensive skill set. At the 30th pick, Landry was obviously at the top of their board for available PFs, and they did think enough of him to buy the pick in the second round, which means the Rockets knew more than most of us (duh, it's their job to know this stuff). Still, I don't think anyone in the Rockets organization expected Landry to play as well as he has. There are reports that Landry's vertical has increased some 4 inches since the start of training camp, and obviously that would significantly improve his ability to finish around the basket.

I do recall someone (was it Morey?) expressing disappointment in Landry's play in the summer league. Perhaps that's a sign that they believed he would be more impactful than he showed there. Does anyone else remember that?

I do. And I think it was Morey.

Carl Landry probably got better and better (with overall skills, not just with vertical leap and conditioning) as the season when on, even if he didn't play at all, by working hard with the coaches and in practice. Frankly, it took Adelman, who saw him pretty much every day, half the season before he got comfortable enough to put the guy in. My guess is had Carl played in, say, game 1 or game 10 of the season, he wouldn't have done as well.

What a contrast there is between Carl and Spanouils in their attitudes. Carl is willing to learn even if he doesn't play. Spanoulis pouted when he doesn't play and proclaims he doesn't have to make adjustments and, instead, the team should just give him the ball and let him play how he's comfortable playing. Can you even imagine Carl (or Luis) saying something like that?

What a difference between a coach who doesn't criticize a player in the media, and make fun of him in a country in which he doesn't even feel comfortable.

V-Span was part of the problem, but so was JVG.

Oil and water.....don't mix.....If V-Span was on this years team, I think he would have had a better time of it with Adelman....
