    "no structural damage" !!!!!! That is the news I wanted. A sore foot is manageable; a broken foot is not. The Rockets and their fans just dodged another bullet.

    Yao broke his left foot last February;
    Yao had surgery on the foot 9 months ago.
    Yao played a lot games and he felt 100%.

    Now,
    Yao could not play because of sore left foot;
    MRI revealed no structural damage;

    ---------

    I am the pessimist, I think something going on with Yao's foot.

    As long as he is not out for any extended period of time, I'm OK with Yao taking a game or two off here and there. He needs to learn to rest and heal when he needs to. We need Yao healthy for the playoffs this year. That is the bottom line.

    Well, I think we've come to expect Yao will miss games. People will argue till they're blue in the face about the olympics. I can't say I fault him, but anyone with any sense will know a man of his size and injury history shouldn't have played. Compoind that with Morey's arrogant to not acquire a quality backup so yao can play 30 mins a night is irritating. At least the team has shown they can win without him, but the center spot is crazy now.

    IMO, unless the Rockets can get a Jeff Foster I don't feel any vet min types including Deke would displace either Scola, Landry, or Hayes for minutes at C.

    and last year's playoff playing through his injuries was not tough? He talks about his injuries a lot, but Yao has actually missed a lot more games than TMac. One is perceived to be soft and the other one actually is soft/fragile.

    Chill. Even T-Mac in his "Yao is out" statement said we'll see him Friday. Sounds very un-serious to me.

    Love this move....

    Yao shouldn't started season, anyway. Much rather have him sit out a few weeks than re-aggrevate an injury...Our schedule is pretty weak for about the next two months. We don't play Mavs again until March, the Lakers until January, and only have three WC playoff teams in the entire month of December and only like 5 playoff teams total. We don't play the Suns again until March 2009.

    This team can survive without Yao or T-Mac, maybe not both...but they'll find ways to win, like last year. I rather have the superstars rest during the gimmie games, like the Thunder, Grizzlies, and Eastern Conference cellar dwellars.

    If his foot is sore, sit him out for a good 3 weeks to month.

    I think morey knows we can definetly use a serviceable back up center, but he does not want to show his cards. it will basicly restrict his bargaining power if he is showing signs of desperation. The only way to acquire a decent back up is by trading for one, and teams are going to ask for too much if they know we are desperate.

    I really think all his current talk is smoke and mirrors and behind the scenes he is actually working hard to acquire someone while lowering payroll in order to get out of the luxury tax.
