I have had problems picking up up in the heights, but it works fine near downtown, sw area (West U, Bellaire, etc.). It does seem to get bad reception in certain places. It still beats any other SR station in Houston for me, so I'm ok with it.
Does it have to do anything with the position of the taller buildings in the way of the signal? According to Wikipedia's link to KGOW-AM tuning, it takes me to this here page: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/info?call=KGOW&service=AM which says the location... in Bellaire: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...WhvJGxpccuDkq42RofnjA&cbp=12,203.55,,0,-15.22 Maybe that's why some of youse don't get a good signal?
I saw that article a long time ago, I thought that the signal would have been upgraded by now. Nighttime strength is just embarrassing.
Looks like the article suggests that the change was supposed to happen this month...but that it's entirely in the hands of the FCC now. Maybe Chance could chime in.
i just got a new car 3 weeks ago, and the signal is 10 times better than in my old car. weird...maybe better antenna?
There's a spot on the north loop near 290 where I have trouble picking up the signal, but aside from that it's ok. I also can't pick them up from my Walkman inside my office, but I have trouble getting most AM stations unless I hold it a certain way.
Their streaming audio sucks for me. It'll play fine for awhile then start over and I'll have to refresh and do everything all over again. Drives me nuts.
I live in The Heights and work in the Galleria area. Signal is fine on my morning drive except at the I-10/610 interchange. It breaks up for about a quarter of a mile there but other than that there aren't any issues.
Also, the signal works in my car parked in front of the house, but not on any of the radios inside my house. Idk why
completely random, but why the f*** does the John and Lance show have 12 minute commercial breaks? I get so mad whenever I keep switching back and hearing another live commercial rather than the show and its incredibly annoying. Commercials are way too long. I love the show, but most of the time when I'm in the car I just end up catching a big commercial.
If they go over on one segment, they double up commercial breaks. Usually happens if they have a guest on or something like that.
Ok so I got an extension cord and walked all around my bedroom with the clock radio on and tuned in.... found a spot where I get a signal, rearranged the bedroom and WHAMMY! Problem solved.
