I'm sorry I'm not a capologist ,but I don't understand why the Rockets would have to pay the remainder of Francis's contract. I think Memphis will have to pay the rest of his 2.6 M contract,if that is not so I would like someone to correct me.

As part of the trade, the Rockets gave cash to Memphis....and coincidently the amount of cash was equal to the rest of his contract.

This was a good move for us, and it will probably end up being the best thing to happen for Francis this season.

    Let's sign Deke!

He'll at least get playing time. That wasn't going to happen here.

bwahahahaahha. You are one of the biggest hypocrites on the board. You bash Rafer in every post , but yet find time to defend Francis. You're delusional dude. At the end of the day, people can make all the excuses for Francis they want, and it won't change reality. If you think Francis didn't get a fair chance then you're not worth even discussing the matter with. The Rockets goal is to win games. Nobody has a vendetta against Steve Francis. In fact, he was brought in to be the starter here, but got beat out because he didn't care enough about this team to come in shape and compete for the position. The original version of Francis had heart, this one just cared about getting wasted in clubs and counting free money. Live with it.

What did the guy do to you?

    That is just uncalled for.

Wow...I know that I'm new to these boards, and while I did not think that Stevie was a good fit for this team, I am amazed at the level of bile the guy is generating from some fans. I hope that he gets some playing time in Memphis and finds a nice second wind in his career. I don't think that he'll ever be what he once was here the first time around, but he could be a good guy off of the bench to work with the young PGs they have over there.

Brooks and Alston are definately the right direction to go in, but I don't hold that against Francis.

No, Rockets paid for his leaving. Rockets probably are paying SF3 salary as 'cash consideration'. Maybe G will waive steve and SF3 will be back a month later.

If Rockets sign Deke, then it means rockets sell the 2nd round to avoid over the cap.

What I can say is the writing was on the wall for moving out SF for quite a while. It is still a shock though when the news did come down.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Francis was playing on one leg and just had a child so he spent time with his family instead. Also, most players come into training camp out of shape...ever heard of a guy named Dream. I never question Rafer's motivation or desire. My critique of players like Alston and Battier revolves around their playing abilities or lack there of. It's never anything personal. Those, like you, who don't like Francis, however, had some sort of personal grudge against the guy and seemingly wanted a fellow member of the Rockets to fail.

At least in this trade both Steve Francis and the Rockets were satisfied with the trade.

First, Memphis should treat Steve right. In fact the fans there should thank him. If Francis didn't refuse to play for the Vancouver Grizzlies, Memphis probably wouldn't get an NBA team.

Second, although I've known for some time that Steve is done as an NBA player, it's sad to see him leave. He represented an era for the Rockets -- the Stevie Franchise era and it was exciting for a while.

Good luck Steve. You always played with HEART and as a fan I appreciate that.
