Wait a second, we don't have a draft pick this year now... Ugh.

Slap in a face to Francis fans.

I just wanted to look how he play ball now after some time.

    But my wish wasn't granted.

Oh well, I wish him luck in Memphis, I guess Francis that played for Rockets when Yao was drafted is officially dead.

Capologists....please explain the benefits of this move economically.

I understand this trade was made to get under the luxury tax. Yet, if the Rockets will be paying the balance of Francis' contract while in Memphis, what is to be gained by getting under the cap enough to sign Deke.

    Put another way

    A. Keep Steve (pay remainder of contract) + Keep high 2nd round pick + Deke = Luxury Tax overage

    B. Trade Francis + Trade high 2nd round pick + Deke = No luxury tax (but pay remainder of Francis contract as terms of trade)

It appears each of those scenarios requires paying both salaries. Essentially we are giving up both a player and a valuable draft pick to not pay the luxury tax and have the opportunity to possibly retain the services of an over 40 center. Doesn't compute.

Why trade steve without giving him a chance?
    Dumb Rockets, Dumb Adelman

Let Steve play SG since T-mac wants a rest

no way steve is done in the league, i will continue to follow him if you guys remember steve is in the same draft class as brand, maggette, marion, baron davis, hamilton, and even artest and they are all still great players in the league today, i know a lot of people wont care about steve anymore when hes not on the rockets but i will and i cant wait until he shows the rockets they made a HUGE mistake. Mark my words STEVE WILL BE BACK

Les could have signed Deke if he was willing to pay the LT. Secondly, there is no guarantee that he will even join the Rockets. It's entirely a management/ownership issue.

Its looking like this draft is going to be this upcoming year and it's incredibly easy to buy a pick now days.

    And he's not happy....

And he actually DIDN'T see it coming....

And he won't contribute a minute here in Houston...

When you're asked to 'help out the team' - - you pretty much help out the team...or else you get helped out the door. Make no mistake, this is all WINK's doing...

The Rockets have proved time and time again that the NBA is a business, and that there is no loyalty in the NBA. If Francis did "help out the team", what guarantees were there that they wouldn't have traded him anyway? It was a smart move to take the money.

Morey couldn't screw the Grizz and get Rudy Gay back the same way they screwed the Rockets to get him.

    Wait...

So he had no possibility of being in game shape to help out the team?

I rather we have wait and do this trade later when it becomes more clearer to us that Francis is useless. Cause the outcome of Francis actually helping could be useful for us.

Good move on the Rockets part. It just wasn't going to work with Stevie, and was sad that it never did.

Best wishes to the former Franchise.

There is this concept of being a professional. Every NBA player knows that it is a business but the professionals don't just take the money.

None of those other players have had the surgery Steve had. As much as I hate to say it, he's done. :(

Isn't this exactly what most people wanted? Clear cap space so we can sign Deke! The two most likely to leave were SF and Head. SF left because he had nothing left. We had him for almost 1 1/2 seasons and he just didn't have it anymore. Maybe it was the surgery, I don't know, but he really wasn't going to help our team anymore. So he was traded to help us get the chance to sign another player (hopefully Deke).

I don't understand why people thought Steve could still contribute. He would've played more if he was so valuable. Even if he could have helped, there's no way he was passing Rafer or Brooks as PGs. For SGs we have Tmac, Artest, Head, Wafer. When was Steve going to play?

Let Steve go and try to get PT in Memphis, though I'm not sure that's in the cards. We needed to free up some space on the roster and under the LT. This is a trade we needed to improve as a team.

I'm fine with moving Head too, if needed. There's not a lot of playing time for him either and he could be the piece that gets us a young big to grow. I still think we need a veteran big to help us now (Deke, Brown, etc.) and especially in the playoffs.
