ROXTXIA,is correct. Yao has a 17M plus player option, which will negate any cap room. Other players like Scola are likely to get paid or involved in a S/T as well.
We are not likely to get much talent in return, but if he does well,a half decent offer might come along eg a good player plus an add on. DM will have to be careful and factor in the addition of too many years, which could hamper us in the future.I suspect he will walk away at the end of the year. A no gain,no loss like situation will be the result.

He said this year will be his last and that if he is traded it will happen sometime in January or up to the trade deadline.

Jonathan Feigan also hinted at that in his blog when someone asked if he thinks Tmac will be re-signed if he has a good season.

I would guess that the Rockets will look to build around a younger player and would seek to spend much of their money under the luxury tax on someone else -- Jonathan

I see your point and its probably true, but I'.m sick and ****in' tired of jack offs like you who have never seen the man train and have the audacity to go out and call him lazy. We're all extremely disappointed that he couldn't lift us into the NBA elite, which is only partially his fault. Last I checked, basketball was a team game. And not just the players, its the coaches, the scouts, the trainers, the guys handling the money, multiple etc. So STFU.

And lazy? LAZY!? You do realize the man has won two NBA scoring titles. I'm sure he earned those awards playing pick up ball with ****s like you at the Y. Sure he doesn't train like Kobe Bryant, but how many people on the planet can we put into Kobe's league? Get out of here dude, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Plus letting McGrady play later in the year, the team needs to build chemistry together toward the future, but it can go 2 ways-

    - By January this team might not surprise at all and could very well be out the playoff picture by then. So McGrady wouldnt make sense to keep around for a lost cause "youth movement".

    - By January this team COULD overachieve and be in the thick of things. Which means they did it without McGrady and are good enough without him. Which still means he's more a good bargaining chip than helpful player.

Or he could just play out the season. Its a correct approach, team first and McGrady's just 1 player on the same respect level as the other rotation players. Its not a slight, its just how things go. Its something HAKEEM of all people even went through with the franchise.
