I don't know why some find it so hard to believe Mac could be good (maybe even great) again. I mean I know it was a small sample size, but considering his limited playing time and how long it had been since he last played, McGrady looked pretty good in his cameos for us this season. He looked like he was doing just fine getting to the basket, and also getting some good lift on his jumper. Offensively, the main thing that held him back was that he wasn't quite finishing his drives yet.

Also, McGrady's game is definitely not all athleticism. He's got a smooth jumper that's pretty deadly when he doesn't try to take it over the outstretched hands of two defenders, and he's got great court vision and bball IQ.

I mean it could still go either way, maybe McGrady is done with his years as a star or even as a quality starting swingman, but I personally doubt it. If McGrady DOES get that game and swagger back, though, Adelman and the organization will have egg all over their face AFAIC. Because a healthy and productive T-Mac would have definitely improved this team IMO.

Just to add to that real quick, this is all assuming that we really do trade McGrady. Still no guarantees there, I guess.

the difference in wins between giving Tracy 20 minutes and Brad Miller 20 minutes on a team that is lacking at both the 2 and the 5 would probably be negligible admittedly, but if I had to bet which player has a better chance of helping the team really succeed

obviously I'd take tracy no matter how he moves without the basketball

    dude, T-mac is DONE.

I'm not saying Miller is an All-star and that Morey should beg the Bulls to do it.

All I'm saying is that if all that's left is this trade I'd rather have 3 expirings that could contribute on the floor than T-mac just collecting a check at his house yapping about how he's back to elite status.

move his enormous expiring contract in an ENORMOUS FA year to a team that is already horrible, in a horrible economy that might have younger, far more impactful players

we almost have a perfect storm to bring in real young talent

don't bite way before the deadline on Brad freaking Miller

I can hear them laughing in SA, LA, and Dallas from here

TMac will return to be a good player; the question is can he do it with the attitude Grant Hill brought? That will be the telling point IMHO as to whether the newest version of TMac and Team will have a 'win-win'.

What is that guy saying? McGrady is not gonna lead the L in scoring. He is not gonna be the player he once was.

But tell him to stop saying that. He is not done, not just yet. People tought Iverson was done as well. As we see he is not.

He still can help few teams in this L. He will never be the same but to say that he can't play 35 mins is silly.

Philadelphia has to knock us over with young talent...

or else we'll go grab Brad Miller! It just doesn't make any sense.

Not true, he played within Adelmans system when Yao down and we went on that 22 game streak. And you know the funny thing about that is that he was only averaging about 15 points a game, and he was being criticized from people saying he is not scoring enough points. But the fact of the matter was that he was playing is Ricks system and becasue of that everyone was scoring.

So its so funny to me because he has played within that system before and was still talked about because of his minimal scoring although he would lead the team in assist. Just proves that haters will always hate no matter what you do.

it's sad that the Rockets can basically be on record looking for a closer of near all-star caliber for Mac and we've got people on here content with Brad Miller junk for our best bargaining piece

Well. He had his great moments, he had his bad moments. That's all. I am still saying you can't judge a player based on short 8 minute stretches. Everybody who plays basketball knows 8 minutes is really nothing.

He showed pretty good quickness on his drives, he showed pretty good range and vidion. Yes, he is struggling on his defense and there is still no explosivness.

But I think he can play 30 minutes. But that's only my opinion.

Good thread, it was a good listen.
I really do agree with Kamla on this one - he is saying u cannot be sure, the others r kinda saying he wont be back to anywher near 20 ppg. Kamla is stating that he cannot be ruled out, and in my opinion, i dont think u shud rule a player with Tracy's acolades etc out.
