Scola was brand new to the league, cut him some slack.

omg Knee jerk reactions everywhere. As clutch stated before; Scola would have plenty of floortime cause yao will be playing much less minutes. Chill out

I hope its Tmac+ Brooks for Amare and Barbosa or Barnes. Trade Landry for backcourt help.

Exactly. This is technically all about helping Yao. Yao would be playing only 30-33 minutes a game if we got stoudemire.

Scola deserves a starting spot. He wouldn't resign with us next summer in that case.

This is not helping Yao. I bet he wouldn't resign with us next summer if this trade is made.

Do you really think Scola would choose having his name called in pre-game intros to having a better shot at a championship? Come on now, I realize your a Scola fan, who isn't? But he's not some big-headed superstar.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I was just stating that amare has been targeted by morey for awhile. Man who knows what morey is doing...has any rumor ever been true other than the ones that say he is trying to do a deal?

Scola has said he wouldn't mind coming off the bench for the Rockets because that's how we mostly used when he played for his spanish club.

As a backup, he wouldn't get the money that he deserves either. He could find a place that he is able to start and gets the money that he deserves.

    Jump to conclusions much?

I don't know if I necessarily think this would be a good deal or if it would even work out, but your insinuations that this is indicative of some overall haphazard, capricious approach are laughable - Morey has been targeting Stoudemire for almost a year now. You are entitled to your opinion that this may not be the correct move, but I fail to see how the fact that the latter is a big name is reflective of some visionary deficiency. It's very well possible that Morey feels that this trade is indeed his real chance to "build a team" (as you are so fervently a proponent of). Keep in mind that he essentially inherited both McGrady and Yao and that this would be the first big trade of his regime. He is likely just seizing the opportunity to build a core reflective of what he envisions for this team - a core that it was clear he no longer had when it became apparent that McGrady would never be the same.

I have a bad feeling about all this. Management might have to give up too much for a pick.

DM the GM works for an owner who likes 'swinging for the fences'.

I hope we get a pick. I doubted Morey after the Rafer pick but turns out Lowry can actually play and was a better move than I thought financially.

Would Amare have more trade value than T-Mac?

Trade for Amare but deal him immediately for Kevin Martin + Kenny Thomas

Kings startling line would be Udrih, Garcia, Nocioni, Thompson, and Amare. They use their no.3 pick to draft a PG or SG then swap out either Udrih or Nocioni from the starting lineup. That's not bad, IMO.

Why wouldn't we give him starter pay? He will be getting starter minutes.

Let's say when Yao is out of the game Amare is always the Center. We want Yao to play about what? 30 mpg?

So that is 18 mpg for Amare at Center.

Amare averaged 37 mpg last year but his career average is 34 mpg. But for this I'll still go with 37 just to illustrate.

So that's 19 mpg at PF and 18 mpg at C.

So that leaves 29 mpg for Scola to play PF ATLEAST!

I think Amare wouldn't play 37 mpg with Scola though, probably closer to his career average of 34, maybe even lower.

How many minutes per game did Scola average last year you ask? 30.3

First let me say I'm not a big fan of bringing Amare to Houston, but I think we're all going to be surprised after all of the smoke clears. Morey has never been the type to give away his hand, and has been known to say things to talk up or talk down players to gain an advantage. I don't think we will be getting Amare, and if we do, we may immediately trade him to another team. If it's not broke, don't fix it, and I think our PF combination is one of the best in the league. Of course when (yes, when, not if) Yao goes down, it will be nice to have Amare there, but I think we have bigger needs, like a wing man that can cut, shoot, and score....if he could defend that would make me a very happy guy! I think we're being lead one direction, while Morey goes a totally opposite direction.
