It depends on how long T-Mac is out for. if he misses half of next season that could be an extra $11M they don't have to pay. If T-Mac is ready to go on opening night then there's no extra savings.

Like Houston, Dallas can hypothetically take back 25% more salary in a trade. The trade package the Mavs send away can include J-Ho & Stack. Stackhouse's partially guaranteed deal is more definate. It saves them an extra $5.25M if he's waived by a certain deadline.

This suns trade isn't a good one. The rockets would lose their identy after this trade. They probably wouldn't make playoffs this coming season if they do this trade.

Yes, I understand that, but there is more to building a team than just getting good players and cramming them together, chemistry is crucial.

Are you willing to wrap up tons of cap space for an injury plagued malcontented talented PF? Meanwhile probably losing the hard working PF that is Yao's best friend on the team in the process?

And to top that off, a 2nd year PG who found his game in the playoffs? And will only get better?

The deal makes no sense.......it smacks of the "Shiny object in the stream" syndrome......

Morey needs to be smarter than that.

Exactly. If hes been the target, why not get him if you can? We tried to get him at the TD and it didnt happen. Well now all he is doing is simply revisiting it. Who knows, it may not happen. Its speculation right now.

Scola would not be included because of his on court talents + relationship with Yao. There will be plenty of court time for Luis, including the 3, depending on match-ups.

Landry and Leandro and the #14 can be added. Phx is out of lux territory, and the trade of Shaq will give them plenty of breathing space.

Now, let's all root root for the Knicks to have a great year - Utha has the NYK 1st UNPROTECTED in '10. Ouch.

Recap: -Pretty quiet on the Rockets front.
-Almost more than likely going to have a pick
-No trade may happen today or tomorrow but something will happen along the lines. (Player wise, not draft pick wise)
-Rockets lacked size in the playoffs, so why Amar'e is the top target.
-We cant or dont want a straight C, rather someone who can play PF and C.
-Landry's name out there to aquire a pick, which they would select a PG and ship Brooks out if a deal like for Stoudemire would happen.
-Brian Cook becomes an expiring trade asset.
-Good chance a deal will happen sooner rather than later. We want or would like a deal before the season starts.
-Someone else like a Barbosa would be included in a Amar'e deal. Not him particular but another piece would be coming back.
-Amar'e may want and we may have to give a contract extension upon a trade.
-They're not dissatisfied with Brooks or Landry but are looking to use them to upgrade the roster as a whole.
-Rip Hamilton was being considered but Clutch hasnt heard anything in weeks so thats ptobably a no go.
-Overall, it looks like Amar'e is our target. No trade may happen within the draft but something may happen along the lines, sooner rather than later.

How do you know? Are you Morey or Kerr?

And, if they do this trade, it means they would give up Yao as well. Yao wouldn't sign with the rockets next summer.

Amen brother.. I can't agree with you more..

I would rather let T-Mac expire and get some money through insurance instead of adding Amare.. esp if brooks is on the way out.. no way.. i will be extremely saddened by that.. plus i don't like Amare.. for the same reasons people dont like T-Mac on this board.

what we need is a SG .. a wing who can cut and slash and shoot some jumpers.. go after Ray Allen! or Rip..

heck.. mike miller would be nice :)

Yeah, chemistry is huge. We saw that last year at the beginning of the season and again at midseason. And Amare right now can opt out after this upcoming season. So I'm assuming you think we'd give him a contract extenstion? Maybe we will, I'm not sure. And I'm open for trading Brooks. He isnt untradeable nor should he be. Yes I understand he is young and upcoming, and some think he can be special. Well if you can trade him for something else that helps you, you do it. Im not saying in this exact deal with Phoenix and Amare, but in general.

Thanks for recapping that, hsf09. I just want to clarify this part:

I might have said that it's quiet, but I think in a "calm before the storm" way. I think the Rockets are very active but no real media leaks. I'd say the Rockets will definitely have some kind of pick. There is a supreme confidence that they will, almost like they already have one.

I dont think we need Amare here. Id rather get guys who would rather be apart of a team than expect to be the team. Amare did poorly with shaq. He wont do much better with Yao...

I wonder if the Wizards would be willing to trade mike miller.... I think he would be a really good upgrade for this team at the SG position.

Not many people though Ron would work too. You are just making Amare into bad guy cause you worship Brooks so much and would freakout if he was gone. You said before you would trade anyone on the team if it made the team better. Amare would make the team better and he should fit fine on our team as well. He isn't a complete knucklehead like a Zach Randolph.

You cant really say he would be included either. We dont know if he will or wont. And he was making the same argument for keeping Scola as DD was. Because of friendship, but honestly, it doesnt matter about friendship. Its a business. And this wouldnt be the first friend Yao has lost. Wasnt he sad or mad when we trade Francis? He'd get over it.

dude... Amare is a whiny biatch.. just like T-Mac.. he needs his touches.. he is selfish.. i would be shattered if he makes it to houston.. esp if brooks is on the way out..

btw.. I thought Nash was always our target? what happened to that?

You don't think Morey understands this?

I trust in the moves he makes, the only way I could see Morey making a trade that he didn't think was an amazing move and helped the team in many aspects is if Les pressured him to get a certain guy, and I don't see that happening.

Every move Morey makes someone has doubted it and then more often than not it turns out to be the right move.
