Sometimes I wonder if we'll ever get there again. Unfortunately, I just don't see it in the near future.

I was 9 when we won the 2nd title and assumed the greatness of Olajuwon would last forever. I thought Olajuwon was the greatest player ever. I was flat out spoiled by him. We all were. You just don't get players like that all the time(unless you are the Lakers).
Could be worse, we could be like Dallas, New Orleans, Denver, Cleveland, New Jersey, Indiana, Orlando, Charlotte, Golden State, Toronto, Memphis, or Clippers and not win any. Or like Washington and have won one. Or be like Seattle and have won one then lose the team.
I have all those games recorded on VHS, still pull them out from time to time and watch. That Rocket team was nothing short of amazing, they were getting stronger and stronger as the playoffs went on. There were so many big plays made from everyone, Kenny with all those 3's in game one, Hakeem's tip to win game one and great play throughout, Horry and Drexler were money, Of course I could go on and on. Damn, those were some of the best days of my life. The days that built Clutch city and of course Clutchfans. Here's to hoping we get back soon, to add to the memories those teams gave us.
You posted our entire rotation right there. By the Finals, we were going with a one man bench. Heck of a series. Reminds me a lot of the current Magic team, actually. Young, talented, but boy when they were hit with adversity, they crumpled.
IMO Hakeem is better that Shaq, Shaq always the supporting cast and always had a superstar on his side when he won those 4 championship, and I remember Hakeem never had a superstar on his side until 1995 when Clyde signed with us, which is I believe he wasn't as good as he used to be.
I miss the Bob Costas intros of each playoff game to build suspense. Too bad that doesn't happen anymore. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJ5tU2dWdzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJ5tU2dWdzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjIBceCJq40&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjIBceCJq40&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I always thought this quote was funny, as Shaq miscalculated and no one ever pointed it out. It's actually 25 moves.
vBulletin Message You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ima_drummer2k again. Truth. And you don't get your haircut after your best game ever, either, Maloney.
I guess it took 15 years to get some recognition.... I noticed a page dedicated to the 1995 championship as well on this week's issue of SI.
True, never thought about it like that--but you make a great point. Or like San Antonio--NEVER defend a championship title
I can't believe that's been 15 years. My 13 year wedding anniversary is coming up next week...I can't believe how quickly time flies after college. I was 21 in 1995. I remember that summer so well. And the Rockets were such a huge part of it. Man, I miss those days of the franchise. I think I dislike Francis so much (aside from him being an idiot) because he represented the end of all that to me. I try to tell my kids about what it was like...and how amazing it was. And they get that the games were amazing and that Hakeem was amazing. But they have no context for what it was like to live in Clutch City during the summer of 1994 and 1995.
