Fantastic memories of the greatest playoff run of all time. Lots of heroes in that series: Dream Clyde Horry Cassell Mario Kenny Nick Andersen Thanks for the post and hopefully we'll keep this thread FFF.
It was so much fun being a Rockets fan back then. Seems like such a chore just to stay awake during their games these days. Sad that some of the kids on this site didn't really get to experience being a Rockets fan in the early to mid-90's. It was a TOTALLY different experience than it has been in the 2000's.... I'm telling you, we should've never changed jerseys.
15 years? Can't believe its been that long. I recall my dad used to tune in for the championship games when I was 4 or 5. I have vague memories of those days though.
I rode the fumes of that for years - no one believes you can do anything until after you have already done it. What a team, what a run. Hakeems three during Game Four was the best punctuation mark i have ever seen on the court. Tinman, you forgot CLARENCE BROWN covering the power forwards along with Robert Horry. Round One: Karl Malone Not enough postage. Round Two: Charles Barkley "Who the hell is Chucky Brown?" The one playing in the conference finals. Round Three: Dennis Rodman Denied. Finals: Horace Grant See you next career. CHUCKY REIGNS SUPREME.
Thank you. This is underrated in the list of really dark moments in Rockets history. The fact that the new colors and logo and design sucked almost obscures the main point: you never, EVER change your identity coming off a championship. Can you imagine any other organization doing that ever? They'd had those colors for 25 years, The finally won a title. Won another. You change THEN? Les was incredibly arrogant to do that. FAIL.
good article but we didn't exactly motor through utah and phoenix. or san antonio for that matter. each of those series was an ultimately satisfying struggle. and we didn't win every game on the road that year either. but i'll still take what i can get from espn.
killed him so bad that everyone in this thread can't spell his last name right with the 'o' Anderson But whatever, if you're a shooter and you can't make your free throws, you got no O!
That's a completely different situation. Anderson missed 4 straight free throws when all his team need was ONE. One free throw would've put the Magic up 4 and iced the game. But because he missed all 4, Kenny was able to hit the game tying 3 to send the game to overtime. Then Dream got the tip off of Clyde's missed running layup. Classic.
unreal, all we did after was party up and down westheimer! those were the days. i miss peter's wildlife. that place was always rockin on sunday nights
