68%...is that, by any chance, the team's average FT shooting percentage with Yao not in the lineup?

Seriously, we SUCK at FTs because we have subpar FT shooters. I wouldn't hold my breath that with some serious practice, we would magically turn into an 80% shooting team. We can improve slightly, but overall it won't be much.

I like all this trade T-Mac stuff, amazing it took the playoffs for it to come out..... he was 9-25 for his FG, and made 4 of 8 FT's and had a big TO in the last couple minutes.....the guy is not what he used to be.... I think everyone gets that now.... do we want a MAX player who doesn't have the ability to come up big in playoff games especially in the last few minutes or would you rather have a deeper team with a supporting cast around Yao? It can only be one or the other.....

really, it's just absolutely sad.. you're with the basket alone, you have all the frickin time in the world, there's no one guarding you, and you just have to shoot it, swoosh it, or have a tough luck bounce (in&out)..

but the guy was bricking, I mean, I kinda felt bad for the rim.. either too long, or too short, or waaaay to the right..

that guy has a god awful freethrow shot.. Scola has an ugly @$$ freethrow shot, no one on this team can hit a freethrow to save his life..

    and it's not mechanism..

    it's practice..

    ask AI..

subpar? we don't have a Shaq, we don't have a Ben Wallace..

we just have a superstar 2 guard who goes 4-8 ..
we have a cave man of a power forward who is supposed to spread the floor and have a nice midrange jumper, his bricks can build a large house..
we have a mentally weak team that doesn't practice freethrows..

after all, it all takes practice.. your muscles don't just mysteriously pop up overnight, you have to workout, eat the right stuff, get enough rest, then you'll see muscle gain..

your freethrows, well, you need to come about an hour and half before practice and get it taken care of.. it's embarrassing..

hey, it worked for that ugly wrestler, it should work for a 2 time scoring champ..

don't quote me on this, but I think Tmac actually shot 1 of 2 every time he went to the line.. he didn't hit consecutive freethrows in 8 attempts.. every trip to the line, he makes one, he bricks one..

I guess Shaq should have a new excuse for poor FT shooting: "hey, Tmac the shooting guard is at 50% from FT, I'm the huge center, and I shoot right at about the same percentage"...

Uhh you make it sound so easy. If Tracy is as bad as you make it sound, we're going to get 2 or 3 overpaid players to match up with McGrady's contract. IE: Ben Wallace-type of crap contracts we'll be taking back. Even if McGrady is overpaid, I'd rather overpay him than overpay a bunch of scrubs.

I mean seriously, did Tmac ever consider taking about 30 minutes of his valuable time everyday to re-establish his rhythm from the freethrow line? it's not like he has to go to another planet to do that, he has a freakin' b-ball court in his house..

but I guess there are more important things to do..

I like that new Jordan commercial. He said something like he's sorry because he made it look like he has some god given talent, but he was really working hard on his game every single day.

It's all in the head. If you can handle the pressure you win,if you can't you lose.

It strikes as awkward that these athletes are professional basketball players and paid big bucks and yet have trouble shooting a simple free throw. I mean, many random people who play ball for fun can hit free throws at a better rate than some of these pros. I understand the pressure and such but you would think that they would be able to handle and get used to it and calmly knock down free throws. I love tmac but it just becomes frustrating and puzzling how he has a digressed as a free throw shooter and can't make them at a respectable rate.

Free throws are not the problem. The problem is Adelman not putting Mutombo in for the last possession of the game.

    -Tracy McGrady

Seriousy, this is disgusting. This is a time when I wish this team had a veteranr who got in every guy's face who is not practicing and practicing and practicing free throws between games. When your best player and "leader" is the worst free throw shooter on the team and won't even admit that is a problem what do you expect?

15 feet ... I wonder if this is why a lot of our players have a problem hitting those mid-range jumpers as well.

The whole team is horrible at FTs this season. Everyone was below their normal averages it seems. It only got worse with Yao going out of the lineup.

I find it really difficult to believe that Aldelman didn't have the team practice freethrows. If he didn't, he'd be the most clueless coach ever, and I just don't buy that. So a lot of you are just stating the obvious. Apparently practice hasn't helped anyone on the squad, so someone needs to be looking at their forms and such. That person is failing.

As I have said earlier, the Jazz will win this because they can push the Rockets around. Even if they do get called for the foul (not very often), the Rockets won't be able to make them pay by making free throws.

68%?? That about the FT shooting accuracy of a decent girls' high school team. Pathetic.
