i agree with doctor robert and will, in that we would have been better served drafting woods rather than tmo. i will be very surprised if tmo gets anything more than garbage minutes this year, due to a serious glut of players at his position(s). however, as we know, that wasn't really the point of trading that future 1st rounder we had for the tmo rights. it was more due to the lobbying of francis than anything else, imo. thus, i'm glad we got tmo, simply because it may be a factor in keeping steve here. ::genuflects::
buffalo, I disagree. I, too, question the decision to pick Morris over Woods. However, dilemma aside, I was very happy they picked Morris. He has a lot of qualities we want out of our SF: can hit the set 3, good perimter defender, can rebound, block shots some, proven to complement Steve well in college, and has a game that complements other players in general. Tmo and Fredterp can do a better analysis than I, of course. I think everyone seriously overestimates the importance of the connection to Steve. I'll go so far as to concede that it was likely noticed in preparation for the draft, but as others have said, the Rockets have had their eyes on TRock for awhile. And it doesn't hurt to add depth when you have young players vying for the same position.
relativist, good points. you're right, the rockets did have their eyes on tmo for awhile (although i still think steve had something to do with this, they liked the way they played together as teammates). and his game does compliment our other players better than, say, langhi's or walt's (imo). and those are two guys he will be competing for playing time with (if walt stays). as i said in my previous post, i'm also glad we got tmo. i still think we would have been better served in getting a center, but i don't think we were trading for tmo based on dire need.
