Can you do the numbers? Both the Suns and the Rox have 6 home games and 8 away games. But of course, Rox has Lakers at home and Suns has Lakers on the road. So you might say Suns has easy home schedule.
"Walls: Be honest...Houston or Phoenix? Who will get the 8th spot in the west and why? Fred Carter: Tim Legler and I have a bet .. he is taking Phoenix and I take Houston. If either team gets beat out, we have to pay each other double!"
Is it THAT much of a stretch we might compete with Sacramento? Remember, they're AWAY tonight, and come back home for the back to back against our Rockets. Who knows. With Sacramento's up-tempo play, they may experience some fatigue, especially at this point in the season, after playing such a tough team. I have to say, I like our chances against Sacramento suddenly, especially if their game drags out to the final minutes, or better yet, goes into overtime.
Scrath that, and retract my previous predictions. We're back to back with Sacramento then Clippers? Not good. If we take ONE of those 2, we're lucky.
I just fear by that time, the playoffs seedings for SA and Portland would be set and Seattle would be out of playoffs, then they all had nothing to play for, so they might not be all losses for the Suns.
I didn't think of that. Also, the teams we play though, have had ntohing to play for ALL SEASON, and wouldn't give too much of a **** about the games we play right? Hopefully, we have a 0.5 or 1 game cushion on Phoenix going into the last 3 games.
The problem with picking wins and loses at the end of the season, is that teams you are playing against may have already locked up playoff position and thus may not play their starters against teams. So, Phoenix last 3 games may not be as tough as they look on paper. DD
True but the teams the rox play may try to tank and not play their starters which would make their games even easier. Suns last three: SA Portland Seattle Rox last three: Seattle Memphis Nuggets If SA still has a chance at #1 they'll play their starters, if they are locked into #2 though they'll probly play their bench players more. Portland will want to keep homecourt advantage against the Wolves who are oh so close behind and I'm assuming they'll probably still be pretty close even to the very end, so they'll probably play their starters. Seattle.. well I have no idea.. they're kinda in the middle of everything which is the worst place to be. For the Rox Memphis and Nuggets will most likely definitely be tanking, easy wins here.
Nova, My point is that most people are counting on Phoenix losing their last 3 and allowing us to sneak into the playoffs. The Rocks need to just win as many as they can. Right now, the teams are dead even, and the Rocks hold the tie breaker. Too bad about Sacremento last night, that would have been a huge win. Tonight's game against the clipps is even more important now. DD
With the Spurs and Laker games looming for the Rockets, a win against the Clippers is a must. We can't afford to lose against anymore teams with poor records. The effort that Francis brought against the Kings and the effort that Yao brought against the Warrirors needs to be brought EVERY night. That type of fire from our All Stars is needed to get this team into the playoffs!
The race for the top spot in the midwest division between San Antonio and Dallas will definitely go down to the last few games. Also Portland and Minesota race for the 4th and 5th will also go down to the final games of the season because of home advantage they both want so dearly. That said, our next 3 games are going to really test us - it could go a long way towards what happens in the end because the last thing we want is to fall behind Phoenix. So I hope Phoenix loses tonight so that we can have room for "error".
