I think we need to make the distinction between the typical 15 year old girl who texts like that and the adults who actually use it as a legitimate alternative form of communication i.e. the ones who actually text complete sentences, etc. There is a big difference.
My point is you are receiving communication in text format. To the point that others here said 'email me if you have something to say.' What's the difference if you receive typed words on your computer or phone? Maybe I should liken it more to IM? The same complaints about texts were said about IM too.
If you don't know the difference between email and texting then you're probably not doing a very good job of email.
I will say this about texting. If I have to sit next to teenagers on the bus or in a cafe I would rather have them texting than have to listen to them talking.
Mass text messages, I guess. I am a frequent texter (if that's even a word), but i usually never surpass 3-4,000. Though I text a lot less now, I guess that was just my MVP month.
14.5k pfft.., eat your heart out. source Girl Sends 35K Text Messages in a Month...Twice, But It is Nowhere Near the Record The story of a 13 year old girl sending 14,000 text messages in a single month got a lot of press, but truth be told, that figure is actually fairly low. For example, Sprint has confirmed that a 14-year old Florida girl sent around 35,463 text messages in a month on two separate occasions. That works out to 1,182 a day. As sad and depressingly impressive as that is, those numbers don't come anywhere near the Guinness record. Apparently, that "honor" is held by a man...a GROWN man by the name of Deepak Sharma . He managed to send 182,689 messages in a single month—about 6100 messages a day (or 4.2 messages a minute). Yeah, that is insane. Good thing we have unlimited text plans—even though it is most likely a ripoff .
