Even sweeter, Aslut might not even go bowling this year... Next game @ East Carolina then @ So Miss then home for Memphis They should finish 5-7
Tom Franklin use to be the voice of the Oilers on 610, right? Wonder why he wasn't offered the Texans job that went to out of towner Marc Vandermeer.
The station and team wanted a different identity from the Oiler days along with a fresh of breath air when doing there broadcast....actually enjoy VanderCARR and Air Ware.
Tech isnt very good. But to assume they lose to a poor OU team and a dissapointing OSU team is a bit much. I bet they split those.....
and if you look here , under the UH celebration pick, they call us the Bearcats. "Case Keenum (7) and the Bearcats rejoice after Matt Hogan (46) converts his last-second FG. (AP)"
Is OSU really disappointing? They lost to Texas - that was expected - and they had the upset loss to what's turned out to be a top 15 Houston team. But otherwise, they've rolled pretty comfortably, and did so without two of their three top players much of the season. They have a good chance to end the season in the top 10.
I know a lot of people here hate Todd Graham. Here's the article from the Tulsa newspaper. This game hurt Graham as much as it feels good for UH's fans: http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...ctid=393&articleid=20091108_94_B1_Tulsas28367 'Devastated' by: ERIC BAILEY World Sports Writer Sunday, November 08, 2009 11/8/2009 3:44:13 AM Pain ripped through a deflated Chapman Stadium on Saturday night. The Tulsa football fan base was ready to erupt for its team, which seemed destined for an upset victory over No. 13 Houston. But the visitors stunned players and fans by scoring nine points in the game's final 21 seconds to escape with a 46-45 victory over the shell-shocked Golden Hurricane. Houston kicker Matt Hogan nailed a 51-yard field goal as time expired to set off a Cougars victory party and plunge Tulsa to a four-game losing streak, which includes home defeats to a pair of top 15 nationally ranked teams. "They're devastated as much as I am," TU coach Todd Graham said about the postgame locker room. "I told them down there that I haven't been more proud of a group of guys than this group tonight." Charles Clay scored his fourth touchdown of the evening, a 1-yard run with 3:28 remaining, to give Tulsa a 45-37 lead with 3:28 remaining. Tulsa (4-5 overall, 2-3 in C-USA) wouldn't take another offensive snap. Case Keenum proved why he's a Heisman Trophy candidate on the Cougars' next drive. The quarterback used clutch passes to convert twice on third down and once on fourth down. He capped the march with his third touchdown pass to James Cleveland, a 1-yard score with 21 seconds to go. Tulsa still led 45-43, which forced the Cougars to go for a 2-point conversion. When Tanner Antle sacked Keenum, everyone seemed to breathe easier. Perhaps too easy. Chase Turner's onside kick bounced off TU's Dexter McCoil's chest and into Tim Monroe's arms. Houston received new life and the ball on its own 39. Keenum hit back-to-back passes for 14 and 13 yards to set up Hogan's final kick with three seconds left. The redshirt freshman hit a career-long field goal of 51 yards, easily surpassing his previous high of 34 yards. Houston's "Great Escape" was complete. "As coaches, you can't get down," said Cougars coach Kevin Sumlin, whose team improved to 8-1, 4-1. "As long as there is time on the clock, you have to try and figure out a way to stay positive. As long as there's time on the clock, you have to try and win the game. "Our coaches did a great job of not panicking, and our kids did a good job of handling the situation." The loss spoiled Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne's career game. After being benched in last week's 27-13 loss to SMU, Kinne responded by throwing for a career-high 334 yards and rushing for 100 yards. It was the first time in school history that a quarterback has thrown for 300 and passed for 100. When Graham was asked about the way Kinne played, the coach tersely answered, "We don't have a quarterback controversy." The Hurricane moved the ball with ease against the Cougars, finishing with a season-high 534 yards of offense. But in a game where every possession counted, two second-half turnovers hurt its chances. Kinne was intercepted by Jamal Robinson when trying to let loose on a long pass to Justin Skillens, and Jamad Williams fumbled on TU's next possession after a 14-yard run to midfield. "We generated a lot of offense ... scored when we needed to score," Graham said. "In the end, two turnovers were very costly for us. "We have a really good football team. Tonight, that one hurts really, really bad. We felt like we were the best team on the field tonight. Our guys outplayed them." Keenum finished 40-of-60 passing for 522 yards, and guided an offense that ended with 695 yards. Clay scored on two runs (4 yards, 1 yard) and two receptions (60 and 8). Entering the game, he had two touchdowns overall this season. Houston led 24-21 at halftime before TU retook the lead on Clay's 8-yard scoring reception with 12:45 remaining in the third quarter. It wouldn't face a deficit again until the game's final play. TU needs to win two of its final three games to reach bowl eligibility. It faces East Carolina next Sunday night for a 7:15 home game. "I don't think I've ever lost one like that," Graham said. "That one really hurt because I thought our kids really played well."
OSU appears to be a better team than Tech, and the game is an away game for Tech. OU's definitely had a down season, but they still have more talent on both sides of the ball. I wouldn't be shocked at 1 - 1, but my money is on an 0 - 2 split. Both of those squads are much better than the Aggies.
In retrospect, you are right. UT has looked good this year, I thought they were vulnerable today after 1 quarter and they end up winning by 30 something. Artesticles just got under my skin which, of course, is his goal.
Todd Graham is the biggest tool in college football (and once Tom Cable gets fired; the pros too), he is well known for his cheating (did you see Tulsa employ the "ow I got a cramp!" defense in the 4th quarter 6 different times?), the crappy way he treats his players, and his complete lack of professionalism in how he handled the Rice situation. He is a d-bag in every sense of the word, and I am happy that his program is spiraling towards a losing season and people are calling for his head. Couldn't happen to a more deserving POS.
His abrupt one-year stint at Rice was notable for all the wrong reasons. I won't rehash details but they aren't pretty. Let's just say he left the place in ruins and hurt a lot of people (not just their feelings).
I have no connection to Graham, Rice, UH, or Tulsa, but.... His one season at Rice was more successful than the average Rice season and they had 10 wins two seasons after he left. How is that leaving a place in ruins? He might be a huge jerk, but I don't see how you can say he left a place in ruins...
