But that doesn't really work - both teams ran basically the same number of plays here. In the UTEP game, Houston ran many, many more plays (110 to 74). If anything, UTEP's defense should have been far more tired than Houston's.
I wasn't saying it was an excuse for the loses. Just in general a pattern for the type of offense they run. The real reason for the each loss seems to have been turnovers and not being able to run the ball or being behind early and abandoning the run. My god, the TOP in this game was laughable... UH 20:30 UCF 39:30
Even that final TOP is somewhat deceptive. In the beginning of the 4th quarter, it was approx UH 14:00 UCF 36:00. UH was terrible at controlling the ball.
Dont let the pro scouts hear you say that. They think Clausen is top 15 material. But I agree with you Clausen is alot of hype and Keenum is a better qb.
We can't lose another one and finish top 25. 3 (or 4 if we go to the champ game) more wins in a row and we'll be sitting in the teens to end the year.
that was the best we could do even if we hadn't lost this game. The ceiling for CUSA teams is the Liberty Bowl, UH wasn't going to get a BCS invite.
Well at least we are still in the rankings.....next year we must improve defense we are getting Zachary mcmillian from Dulles next yr I think his dad played pro
we've been saying that since 2003. get used to what you have. it will take a few years in the top 25 to get recruits that will make a difference on D.
McMillian is solid but Alton Demby from North Shore is the best recruit on the defensive side. He had offers from Oregon and Kansas. Kevin Sumlin is really recruiting well. He is holding many camps throughout the year and that is paying dividends.
I am AMAZED they are still ranked. A blessing for sure. Finish strong, put together a decent defense, and the Coogs will be the TCU of 2010. (I have degrees from both schools). I saw them play each other in the Texas bowl a couple of years ago; I couldn't lose. (I am really a Coog at heart, that "Kitten Kick Off" indoctrination really took.)
We won't have a defense for another 2-3 years at least. It isn't happening next year, that's for sure. Of course they're young, and lots of injuries this year, but even at full strength the athletes are just not up to par. We should be better next year, but the schedule looks tougher too.
So whats your point? I still think Keenum is the best qb in football. I said the SCOUTS said Clausen was a top 15 pick not me. And if anybody takes that dude with a high pick is nuts.
