Rudy Gay has all the athletic tools as well, but he's a terrible defender. "Effort" is probably the word your looking for.

History repeats itself. Might as well make it 4 years in a row.

If you are looking for a decent two way player, then you should probably lean more towards James Anderson. Wouldn't it be awesome if we were able to get both George and J. Anderson? If they were able to acquire another spot between #15-#18, they could do so.

Personally I want to see them grab a big at some point in this draft. I have no confidence in Yao's health for the rest of his career and its a great opportunity on the cheap for the rockets to aquire a young big they can develop over the next few years. Anderson would be a nice pick as well. Im not a big fan of George though, he's got talent, but without a high motor.

    ROFL.

You need to learn the difference between "asset" and "filler."

Well Miami is trying to unload Beasley and the #18 pick. I would do it. It's a cheaper deal that will net you a decent backup to Scola. They are needing a point guard so i'm thinking s&t Lowry. It hurts to say, but it would benefit the team. Then get Alabi with the #18.

What makes you question his work ethic and "heart" a la Tracy?

I've seen a couple of videos/interviews about him and he looks really dedicated to make an impact at the next level..

Have never questioned his work ethic, just his motor on the court. All the videos both you and I have seen of him are strictly highlights, so its hard to tell. The kid obviously has some very nice talent on the offensive side of the ball, just like Donte Greene. George will get very little playing time on a playoff team if he doesn't give full out effort especially on defense.

Yeah, but that was more stupidity on Portland's part choosing Oden. Regardless, statistically speaking, 2nd picks are the worse out of the top five. I mean for one Durant and Aldridge you have countless M. Williams, J. Williams, Thabeet, Darko, Chandler, Swift, Van Horn, Bradley. Rarely is the 2nd pick one of the top five or even ten players of the draft. However, statistics aside, it is all about doing your homework. Having the second pick doesn't mean you have to pick Marvin Williams over Chris Paul, you just have to do your work. Morey works. Having the second pick just means Morey has access to everyone not named John Wall. Knowing Morey, he'll gauge the rest of the leagues interest on who he thinks is actually the 2nd best player, trade down to get that player while gaining a future asset. That's just how geniuses roll.

    Co-signed

Micheal Beasley, Marvin Williams, Emeka Okafor, Darko Milicic, Jay Williams, Stomile Swift, Keith Van Horn, and Shawn Bradley.

That's a pretty big list in 20 years of players that were chosen #2 and significantly underperformed.

....and then I can point to all the other draft picks that weren't even chosen at #1 or #2 yet had better careers....Or I can point to all the #1 busts and say the first pick is useless...etc, etc.

Point is, the history of a certain draft position from other teams in no way devalues the position, it only displays the ineptitude of that team's scouting department and the gamble of young talent.

Well, by this way of thinking, any team with cap space can sign me to a one-year deal for whatever amount ($5 million sounds nice), and they will have an expiring contract that they can trade to somebody. This will be an asset, but...

Hey, if any team with space out there needs me, hit me up. I'll take the minimum, or $10 million a year, or anything in between. I just like to help out when I can.

Actually, such info is usually leaked within a couple of hours, though official confirmation might take a few days.

Which of the two things in that picture was the bigger disappointment?

I just see one thing, but I'm afraid if I say it, I'll be called a gay-basher.

How can you guys say that Thabeet and Beasley are busts? These are not considered busts. Thabeet, in his 1st season was starting to come along fine. Beasley may have an attitude(which by the way i feel he is on the wrong team), but the guy has and still can contributed to his team. With only two seasons to go by,it is way too early to call him a bust. Joey Dorsey and Hilton Armstrong are two people who you can consider as busts.

Dude it's not the #2 pick that's bad, it's the GM that chose those players at #2 that was bad ... the #2 pick by strict definition gives you the right to pick anybody who wasn't picked first
