The problem with having separate NFL and College forums is that it won't generate much discussion. It's good the way it is now.... but honestly, even the way it is now won't generate much. If you have it so it's the Texans, NCAA teams/bowl season, and all of the nfl including the playoffs, it works out much better. This site is predominately a basketball site... so you can't compare this to the Rockets or the NBA. Some of these people from China probably don't even know what the hell football is (no offense to you guys, lol). Like I said, there's a handful of us that follow NCAA, there's a handful that follow the NFL in general, and then we have our general Houston fans that love the Rockets and the Texans.

I found the new football forum not too long ago... not too much going on as there is currently only 1 viewer in there.

I still think we should keep the forum as is... unless maybe it's an additional forum for all other sports played outside of the US (like motosports, as i've mentioned before).

Does this mean the new forum will replace the unsorted forum?

I think it should be ALL football in the "football" thread. including the texans.

and....there should be an "other sports" thread....with MMA, Soccer, baseball, hockey, ect...

However you do it would be good just to have a real Texan and Cougar forum.

IF possible - Make the default from 20 listed topics to 30 or so on the front page, to accommodate extra categories and possible mergers. (Instead of 2 forums with 20 topics, 1 forum with 30+ topics)

Don't overlook how simplistic and lazy some posters are. I best most people just look at Page 1 of a thread to see what grabs their attention, seldomly go to page 2 and hardly ever go to a page 3. So that topics don't get buried, just increase the amount that are listed on the first page. (I can easily scroll up and down through extra topic titles. I don't get burdened by quantity of topics, only by the stupidity posted in them :)

Already mentioned but I think the College and International basketball forum can easily be absorbed into the NBA Dish. The fact that College/Intl is its own forum has in NO WAY at ALL generated interest in me to post in those forums or even read them. Once its in the Dish itll properly turn into "I Wish the ROCKETS can get __NCAA/Intl player__". Or The Best DUNKS and highlights of all Non-NBA basketball.

SIMPLICITY does count. Having too many sub-forums and categories spreads things out too thin. One-Stop Shop forums seems to work alright on this site. The Hangout has good VARIETY of topics, why it works so well. Sports can follow the same variety approach. So just redirecting all the sports into the EXISTING Houston Sports forum makes plenty sense. Then if its possible to increase the total number of topics listed on the first page, it'll help topics not get washed away in the tide.

I like NFL football, and I liked reading those weekly NFL threads, but I haven't clicked over to the new football forum to read that thread even. It's a bit tedious.

Instead of a Fantasy sports forum, can it just be a sports dish forum including fantasy sports. Because as it currently is constructed, general sports talk that is not houston, nfl or basketball gets lost in the hangout.

For now, yeah, in the Hangout. There could be a Baseball forum eventually, if there's enough interest, but that basically depends on what we do with the Astros and Texans. If we move Texans to the football forum, then the Astros would become a new forum also (either with "Baseball" or "All Other Sports").

You are totally missing out on hilarity, you could just change the forums at your own whim on a weekly basis and watch folks get flustered.

It might even cause Moes to embelism !

Yeah I definitely like the idea of 3 broad Forums.

    1. Football - Texans, NFL, college, high school, etc
    2. Baseball - Astros, MLB, college?, etc
    3. Other sports - Dynamo, NHL, MLS, Nascar, PGA, Tennis, whatever...

Give me a Texans only thread. I think it would attract more people here.

That would be such a bummer, at least for me.

I love having one place to talk most Houston sports.

Didn't see this coming but I don't like the new format. I thought I would love it but now the hangout feels empty and the new football section feels slim. Its just weird.

Edit: the hangout doesn't feel empty. Its just missing a certain something. That one huge Pac 16 thread for example. That fit here perfectly.
