Probably about the same as NBA dish, maybe slightly less. Especially slow during the off-season.

I agree with this. I think the best solution is to fully utilize what is there now.

Can we have a category for cheerleaders only as well?

    Texans/NFL
    Astros/MLB
    Cheerleaders

    Other (hockey, soccer, tennis, etc.)

I think Vince Young deserves his own forum. As well as the real Houston Oilers Franchise, AKA the Titans.

That is perfect. I'm all for breaking up the sports into their own separate forums as proposed by others, but IMO there just aren't enough threads to justify doing so.

It seems your goal is to separate the Week X threads and the other sports-related threads from the Hangout. The solution quoted above provides that in a very simple fashion.

Exactly. I already go through the Dish, Hangout and Fantasy forums on a routine basis. I don't want to open 7 tabs for each forum of interest every time I come here.

Also, compared to many dedicated subforums, the solution above will potentially foster more member participation as we will be able to see all football (college or NFL) threads in one place. It is all about simplicity, which will lead to more visibility and hence posting activity. lol.

Not meant to derail, but a tech forum would be really good too. One dedicated to phones, video games and consoles, photography and chopping, cars.

To play devil's advocate, I kind of like the way the forum is set up now. On a lot of other BBS's, they split topics into multiple forums, and I always like CF.net for is one, central source (BBS Hangout).

The one thing I really like right now is the smaller community in the Houston Sports section, particularly the Texans. There are so many people in the garm now with repetitive threads and stupid posts that it is unbearable. We have a good group of Texans posters who tend to be far more mature and organized than the garm crowd.

no surprise, but i am 150% behind major's idea. i think you should just make one forum for all other sports. nba dish, rockets, all other sports, hangout, d&d, buy/sell/trade, fantasy, whatever that last one is. i like it a lot. the only other change i might make would be making fantasy a sub-forum of all other sports.

edit...just read thelasik's response. spot on.

Do it Clutch. Imagine if it takes off well and more people start to join JUST for the Texans forum. It'd be cool if Clutchfans became the site to join to talk Texans.

My vote goes to keeping the Houston Sports area, and then creating new ones for Football and Baseball.

One thing Clutch and company need to do is figure out if they want this. On one hand, it would be pretty cool to become THE Houston sports site. On the flipside, look at the quality of discussion in GARM vs the Astros/Texans forum. There's a lot of value in keeping a forum smaller and filled with high-quality posters that all sort of know each other within the forum as opposed to becoming where you get every crazy person participating and lose the sense of community.

Personally, I like the smaller community in the Astros/Texans forum. But I also don't read the GARM, so I'm not the majority type poster here.

I wish the GARM could go back to how it used to be. Honestly, it's crap now.

understood Major and WhoMikeJames but sometimes i wish there were more talk, news and feedback about Texans and Astros. since this is mainly a Rockets site i really dont see it much.

i think there is and have been to a Texans site (forum) a few times but i really dont want to go to another site. i'd rather keep it here.

Could we add "Cowboy" and "Cowboys" to the list of naughty words so they just show up as a string of asterisks
