I used to work with Crash when he was hired at KZFX Z-107.5. I also had some college classes with Outlaw Dave when he was interning at KRBE (he got Scot Sparks to do voice overs for his homework).

KLOL used to be our competition (Z-107.5's competition) and they laughed at us when our format changed to Alternative Rock (Z-107.5 became The Rocket which became the Buzz). I guess the jokes on them now.

For the record the music they are playing is not mexican music.

It is not traditionally mexican music or tejano.

Actually, mexicans /texmex are complaining that there no more tejano stations which true. The spanish music stations here in Houston are more south american/P. Rican if anything. The only tejano station is one AM station which the reception blows so what is the point.

You guys touting XM do know that Clear Channel is one of XM's largest backers/investors don't you?

You don't think their influence will affect XM?

Wonder why Howard Stern, Eminem, Tony Hawk, Mojo Nixon, Kelly Slater, Nelly, and so many other artists have picked Sirius over XM for the stations/shows?

Please don't support the bastardization of radio (in any form) by backing anything that Clear Channel has a hand in.

    F Clear Channel. F XM.

    Go Sirius!

They ought to at least change the call letters.

What is now the longest running station without a format change?

Thanx for the info on Pruitt. I was fortunate enough to attend the last "Holiday Ball" - it was masked as a roast for Pruitt - I had a blast meeting Earl Campbell, Lou Savoresce (sp?), and Loc (Correct!?) and alot of hot women that liked to drink... mmm fun and great mammeries... errr memories... no wait BOTH!

Actually I was heartbroken when they got rid of "Boner." Then the day I tuned in and W&J were on and not S&P, I stopped listening to 101 in the morning out of protest. I could care less about W&J, they basically got what they gave S&P (Karma's a BEEECH) - Yes I remember that Outlaw Dave pulled double duty until w&J were on the air, but I never liked them because they were not S&P... ...WE LOVE YOU UNCLE WALDO!!!

But beyond that I am more surprised that we have lost an Iconic station like 101... and on a similar note, I CANNOT believe that Dallas radio got rid of the Eagle = (Great station).

101 is a sad loss, I am not mad that it is a latino station, I am upset that there is almost no selection for rock/hard rock music on the radio.

Ohh well more sports 610am, and 94.5 is all I have left...

    ...RIP KLOL (Rock 101) :(

Clear Channel owns slightly less than 2% of XM. Shares are still being issued, so when all is said and done, it will end up being closer to 1%. A piece, but not a significant one.

They used to own much, much more of it when XM started - and even 1-2% ownership is a big deal when these bastards are involved.

Why support ANY of their ventures when there is an equal - I'd say superior - product available?

yes...93.7 The Arrow....Houston's Only Classic Rock station.....and now with this numbnuts move by the bastards at CC....Houston's Only Rock Station.

Good news for me...I like classic rock...and for my fixes of hard rock that 93.7 doesnt cover...I got cds...and hopefully, soon I will have Sirius....it is a couple of bucks more expensive than XM...but if CC has any ownership in XM...I wont touch it with a 3.048006 meter pole...

Anyone here a millionaire that wants to make some money? A independent rock station that covers the genres not covered by the nationally owned stations could find themselves with the highest ratings in town. There is 24 hours in a day, more than enough to cover a combination of hard rock, indy rock, and any others that are woefully under-represented by commercial radio.

    I know...wishful thinking....:(

Hey, Anotha Brotha, you can use this material:

WAIT! No! Don't close them... who's going to work in the freeway construction, do your landscaping or lawn work, play in soccer leagues on Sundays, play the maid role in Hollywood movies, cook at the Chinese Buffet restaurants, and make sarcastic comments to this BBS?

my normal morning drive was filled with W&J. This morning I got the new station and now it's 8:46 and I'm ready for a siesta.

I grew up listening to 101 and although it hasn't been what it was in the past it was still a houston tradition. CC you bite.

Nope me too. When they started bashing Kerry and then claiming they were non-partisan that was it for me. Good riddance to that radio refuse.
I will miss the music and I liked Outlaw Dave and Uncle Nasty.

I doubt there is enough market to keep both systems going. Sirius needs XM's subscribers, and XM needs Sirius' programming. Since their strengths and weaknesses complement reasonably well, a merger is likely. Clear Channel is Microsoft-like. Escaping completely is virtually impossible.
