Because it's bunk. You mentioned previously a point I failed to elaborate on.... 100 mpg under what conditions. It's possible to get 100 mpg from an 80's Vette... but not at anything more than a walking pace. There isn't enough energy in a gallon of gas to make the Vette cruise at 60 mph... no acceleration, no breaking, no hills etc...
