Yeah, I'm big into backwards compatibility too, so I don't blame you. I already have a 60GB PS3 though, so that's not an issue with me. For me, it would be more of upgrading my old, fat PS2 which essentially acts as only a DVD player in my family room since I no longer use it for games (no memory card), to a usable gaming console and DVD/Blu-Ray player.

I have no idea why PS3 are still selling for $400. The blu-ray players' prices have dropped considerably in the last year. $400 is just a little too high for a gaming system IMO.
There is speculation that GameStop is running this special because the PS3 is going to drop to $299 by the end of the year. Who knows though.
i might go for this. i never play my ps2, and i need somethin new anyways. and it seems like the dell thing is over
