I like to buy the high dollar jeans at the end of the season when they are all on sale. You can get some $80+ jeans for $30-40.
try classic dress clothes, from Polo and Brooks Brothers to Pancaldi and Zegna. also outdoor wear like Patagonia. i never spend a lot on jeans though. just doesn't make sense. and nice shoes too..... i own a couple Magli's, Mezlan's, and Pal Zilieri.
See the thing is everyone is looking at jeans in the traditional sense where they are for working, and going to last a long time. I have plenty of those cheaper jeans that i use for working or other things around the house like working or just going out of the house and doing the groceries. But in my age group right now Jeans have become a fashion statement as well. They are worn when we go to clubs, out on the town, etc.... i dont think any of us go and buy designer jeans to work in them or relax in them. Like i said before most of my age group doesn't wear slacks to go out anymore. Jeans have become the staple of what we wear. During most of the older members time i am sure slacks were the thing that everyone wore and you spent good money on then. That's the biggest difference i am seeing here. Over time things change and this is jsut a movement in the fashion. a couple years from now lets say slacks come back into style...im sure they will be more expensive and people will be buying them as well. I for one don't go out and buy these jeans to sit around in them...these are my going out jeans...just like i would have slacks back in the day.
if you can buy a 100 jeans without having to think twice about how much money it is, you should just go ahead and buy it. nothing you buy or wear or use makes you gay. what makes you gay is being attracted to a member of your own sex.
I have noooooo idea what made me think of this, but it's funny: Napoleon Dynamite: Stay home and eat all the freakin' chips, Kip. Kip: Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter. Kip: I'm just really trying to raise a few bucks now so I can bring her out for a few days. Uncle Rico: Yeah, well what does she look like? Kip: She's uh... she's got sandy blonde hair. She's uh... pretty good looking face, but I'm just getting really... just kinda TO'd because... I mean she hasn't even sent me a full body shot yet.
Im kinda late on this thread, but I gotta agree with the likes of Trader_Jorge. That doesnt happen often, but Im with him on this one. Nice pair of jeans are a must if you go out to nice places on the weekends. Seven, Paper Denim, Diesel, etc... Spending about 150 seems about right. Personally, Paper Denim is my favorite. A little pricey (180), but damn, they are solid. And by the way, its very easy to spot a crappy pair of jeans from a nice pair. So if you are planning to use your jeans as a way of picking up chicks, spend the cash.
Also, in case spending 150 on jeans isnt an option, club monaco has some decent jeans at reasonable prices. Similar to Banana Rep.
Reading about everyone using jeans to pick up members of the fairer sex makes me very happy that I am a married man
I guess the term "dressy jeans" just confuses the hell outta me. I spend good money on dress clothes like slacks and dress shirts. But to me, jeans are utilitarian and worn not to dress up, but for everyday attire. Seriously, who wears jeans as dressy clothes? I thought that was what slacks were for.
it's changed i mean everybody that goes to clubs these days is wearing jeans with their dress shirts etc....it's just a style movement and that is why some people might get confused when we do buy designer jeans. We don't buy these jeans to do utility work or just lounge...these are the jeans we were when we go out at night...as if some people would wear Slacks back in the day. Just a younger generation style.
There have been expensive jeans for a while, and there have been squares who cared. Back in the '80s the morons that would go to clubs and spend a bunch of money on jeans bought a pair of b****in' Z-Cavarricis. It's all the same. It's a cheeseball style.
