I have a friend who's like you and he shops in the boys section of department stores. Boys section as in the kids section. The prices are usually a lot cheaper there.

I'm sure it's tough being petite.

I find it funny that you are trying so hard to emphasize your masculinity in a thread about homosexuality.

I've never really ventured past the, I guess, third tier of Jeans - Express, Abercrombie(It's okay...pants are absolutely the only thing I will buy here), Banana Republic. I've never had any of these just totally wear out on me...I still wear at least one pair from my freshman year(four years) with some regularity. I'm sure they have faded some, but not too badly.

I've never bought anything more expensive, because I don't really care to spend on that side of $70 for jeans, and I don't really care to look for them on sale.

I probably prefer the Express fit anyway. Seems like all of the super expensive jeans(Paper, Seven, etc...) are worn at blood flow-reducing levels.

Edit - Totally ignored the topic of the thread...Not gay(Though I'd probably make fun of you), but probably a little excessive.

I once bought a pair of $70 jeans and they made it about six months - the essentially ripped at a gig. On the other hand, I had several pairs of Levis that cost me under $30 for years without getting torn up.

I've seen the Sevens and I've looked at Lucky's, but they don't feel any tougher than my Levis. They are stronger than Gap, but they better be for twice the price.

I actually asked someone about their Lucky's and they said that if they were working in them a lot - especially more physical kinds of labor - there is no way they would spend the money on them.

Jeff, what exactly do you do in your jeans? I've never had a pair of jeans just give out on me like that...never. In fact, I can only remember ruining jeans in bike accidents and the sort when I was a little kid.

I don't see how you can ruin jeans just through normal wear.

The other thing to consider here is that you wear these jeans like you wear slacks, not like you wear a cheap pair of 'work jeans'. Of course pants are going to come apart if you are exposing them to a lot of physical labor. Just like you wouldn't wear a suit to build a fence, you likewise wouldn't wear a pair of Sevens to lug heavy equipment around in.

Look, the issue here is people's tastes and budgets. If you want girls to notice your style and you generally feel better about yourself when you are dressed well, then go for it. I am very happy with my investment in clothing. There are situations where you want to project a certain image in either social or business situations. Jeans are one way to do it. If you just want a pair to hang around the house and play Halo in, then obviously don't shop at Neiman Marcus. If you want to have a chance with high end chicks at a swanky lounge in midtown, then don't show up wearing something off the value rack at JC Penney's. Girls (and not just shallow girls) are keenly attuned to men's fashion. Take that for what its worth.

When I do gigs, I have to haul heavy gear (sometimes up and down stairs), crawl around on the floor to tape down cables or hook up equipment, etc. Every gig puts quite a bit of wear and tear on pants, in particular. Plus, I wash them a LOT more often (sometimes twice after a show to get the smoke smell out). It adds up quickly, especially when you play anywhere from 2 to 6 or 7 shows every month.

I don't mind if parts of them get torn up - back pockets or shredded cuff of pants from getting stepped on. I like the way that looks. I just get frustrated when they start to shred on the seam or get holes in them.

A good pair of Levis can get frayed on the cuffs or get a rip or two in the back pocket and look totally cool before starting to fall apart. Jeans worn as slacks just don't stay cool looking for as long with me.

from my experiance jeans or slacks in the express price range tend to always last longer then a pair in the $30-40 range.

maybe though subconciously you are more careful though with jeans you spent a lot of money on.

really though i dont understand why someone would make fun of another guy for buying expensive jeans if there within ones budget.

personally while im young i might as well look good. conversly when im old i can scale back my sense of style. maybe with that khaki short black sock look i see some old guys sport.

Yeah, but then the pants are too short. I'm like 5'9" and only 120 lbs, and I've try to gain weight by eating, that doesn't work. I ate a lot of fatty foods and got placed on a diet for health reasons but didn't gain weight. I know the only way for me to gain weight is excercise/ lif weights but I'm way to lazy :p

"Dress jeans" as a way of picking up girls=hilarious. And sad.

No need to write a book about it. Everybody knows hookers like money. And there are all kinds of hookers out there.

I wear 501's every day. No better looking or better fitting jeans on the market. And I never sleep alone unless I'm in a mood to. I'd no sooner pay $100 for jeans than I'd pay a girl to get naked for me or squirm around on my lap (maybe Jorge should write a book on the best way to get lap dances too). Some of us get that stuff free.

Here's on my take on it i guess. The styles are always changing before everyone that used to go out really wore slacks and a nice shirt and even probably tucked them in when they went clubbing or something like that. Slowly slacks have been weeded out and now designer jeans are the biggest fashion.

I remeber i used to buy slacks all the time and they were no where close to cheap. Right now the Different types of jeans and styles are really taking over the slacks market especially for when you go out. You will hardly find people in clubs these days with slacks on and god forbid you have a shirt tucked in...it's just outdated. Unless your wearing a suit or went something formal you shouldn't have your shirt tucked in at this point in the fasion world lol...(at least my opinion)

That being said a lot of jean companies are out there making all these designer jeans and charging a hell of a lot for them. I myself have all designer jeans from either Diesel, ****, etc...but damned if i will ever pay $100 bucks for them. I get all of them from either ebay or wait till the things go on sale.

I don't need a pair of jeans that bad for me to spend 100 bucks on it....i wil pay a premium for nice shirts etc..but jeans i will not do.

If you want to go and pay that much at a store your more than welcome to but why would you do that when you can get the same jeans for $40 bucks online or something instead of $160 bucks....

Jeans as slacks? I've never heard of this before.

    Go with the levis.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and guess that you are under thirty because 15 years ago I was you. I hit thirty didn't change my eating habits at all and bam I got fat!
