Maybe some old news to some, but could be helpful. I always my debit card everywhere I go.... http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-bu...o-use-your-debit-card?mod=bb-checking_savings
Interesting....it appears that I'm not using my Deb card in the best places. I violate most of those on a daily basis.
All the reasons the article gives for not using your debit card are legit. If you have a CC, there's no point in using a debit card. like it says, CC's protect you alot more than debit. if you're using your debit, that's like using cash. why not use a CC for the extra protection it provides, and just pay your CC off every month. you won't accrue any interest and you might even get reward points. it's "better" to get your CC information stolen than your debit card. with CCs, thieves steal money from the CC company. with a debit card, that's your hard earned cash which is a lot harder to get back.
Ok... if you can't use your debit card in any of those places... what's the point in even having one?
^You don't. The only reason I can think of is using the cash back trick at a place like Target to avoid incurring atm fees. Just follow this. You don't even have to buy for "Fraud Protection". Most of it is already required by law. Also there's been news of fake card slots appearing in gas stations. Getting your own money randomly stolen sucks a lot more than the Credit card money attached to your name.
That's what I meant to say... but even though I have a CC, I would much rather use the debit card in some of these places... I get rewards through my debit card too... this article is just plain stupid.
