If we don't beat Miami are chances are slim. Miami won't be as focused on us having played a tough conference game against Philly on friday and with another scary Cleveland game coming on tuesday. Plus we will have lots of time prepare for them. I think Philly will be the tougher game. That's why I think it's imperative we beat Miami. Then if we beat NJ we go into the Philly game as it not being a must win and if we win it we will be looking good. By the way I don't expect the Grizzlies to lose more than 3 games the rest of the way. I do see a way New Orleans could lose 5. But either of those scenarios mean we can only lose 1 more game. 7-3 gets us the 14th pick pich. 8-2 is a chance. 9-1 is a lock.
The rockets need at least 7 imo and they cant forget that the suns are a game back with the tie breaker. If the suns-rockets-and grizz have the same record, i think it goes to conference record.
It actually would be best record between the 3 teams, which the Rockets would own at 4-3. Memphis would be 3-4 Phoenix would be 3-3. Also why does NO win the tie-breaker, if the Rockets beat them the season series would be 2-2?
Since the season series would be tied at 2, the next tie breaker is Division Record, which would go to NO since they're currently 8-4 and we're 4-9. Pugs
That would only be true if the Rockets and Hornets were in the same division, which they are not. The tie breaker between the Rockets and Hornets would actually be the Conference record. Right now our conference record is 22-24 and the Hornets are 22-20.
Hollinger's season simulation expects that both Memphis and NO will have 46 wins; we'd probably need 47 to almost lock a playoff spot and 46 would be iffy. Sorry to burst your collective playoff bubbles.
the hornets have 11 games left 10 teams are from the western conference Utah=W Phoenix=W LA Lakers=L Memphis= win win situation for the rockets Houston= L Phoenix=W Memphis=win win situation for the rockets Utah=W Dallas=L Lets say they split the 2 games with memphis 1-1 they would end up with a record of 27-25 the rockets have 10 games leftand 6 teams are from the wester conference san antonio=L sacramento=W new orleans=W Clippers=W Dallas=L Minnesota=W we end up with a record of 26-26:grin:
new orleans has no easy games at all- they could lose any of those games- tough, tough schedule. i watched the end of memphis game last night, and although the celtics didn't execute well at the end, the grizz look good. they remind me of us a little- they play hard and as a team, i just don't see them falling out of the playoffs.
I hope our mediocrity is better than their mediocrity. Wait, hmmm, no, I hope their mediocrity is more mediocre than ours.
I could see either one of Portland, New Orleans or Memphis losing all of their remaining games. I doubt any of them lose out, but their schedules are pretty nasty.
Last I checked the Rockets and the Hornets are in the same division my friend. You might be thinking of the old Charlotte Hornets.
Houston (38-34) - We only own the Memphis tie-breaker. @Mia @NJ @Phi SA Atl Sac @NO LAC Dal @Min Memphis (40-32) @Chi SA GS @NO Min LAC Sac No @Por LAC N.O. (40-31) @Utah @Pho @LAL Por Mem Ind Hou Pho @Mem Utah @Dal Phoenix (36-34) NO Dal @Sac OKC LAC @SA @Chi @Min @NO @Dal Min SA New Orleans would have to fall pretty far for us to pass them since we don't own the tie-breaker. That would be one of the better scenarios in my opinion since we get into the playoffs and Memphis does too, which helps the future draft pick they owe us. As nice as this would be, I don't think there's much of a chance, barring injuries. Pugs
Did the Hornets move to a new division? Last time I checked they were a part of the Southwest division, just like the Rockets. Southwest W L Pct GB Home Road Div Conf Streak L10 x-San Antonio 57 14 .803 -- 33-3 24-11 10-4 35-8 Lost 1 7-3 x-Dallas 49 21 .700 7.5 25-11 24-10 6-8 27-13 Won 1 5-5 New Orleans 40 31 .563 17.0 24-11 16-20 8-4 22-20 Lost 1 5-5 Memphis 40 32 .556 17.5 25-10 15-22 5-8 24-19 Won 3 6-4 Houston 38 34 .528 19.5 22-14 16-20 4-9 22-24 Won 5 7-3 Pugs
That^^^ Win 'em all and hope for the best. However, I think the Rockets will be on the outside looking in. They're likely gonna need help, not sure they're going to get it. Sucks but....that's why you don't leave your playoff hopes in another team's hands. Enjoy the 14th pick(or there about) for the 2nd year in a row.
