Maybe I'm just not tech savvy enough, but I don't understand the big deal with all these gadgets. If you want something smaller than an ipad and insist on Apple compatibility, instead that what an iphone is for?
Different sizes make a huge difference. I much prefer using my 7" tablet to my 4.65" Android phone for various tasks. I use it mostly as an e-reader. But I don't carry it everywhere. Tablets are great "in between" devices when you need something bigger than your phone but don't want to drag your laptop around. Laptop and desktop sales are way down too.
I don't see how they aren't eating into their own sales w/ these line extensions. Will people really buy an apple laptop, ipad, ipad mini, and iphone? That just seems like overkill.
for the amount of iphones and ipads that they have sold..their laptop and desktop sales doesn't seem to be affected thaaat much. I have a windows desktop and an iphone. I have thought about buying a laptop or tablet..and just do not see the need. But I can see how someone who has a macbook bought an iphone, and then bought into the ipad hype. I don't see why that person now runs and buys another tablet 2 inches smaller unless they are selling their bigger one.
ipad and iphone sales account for 70% of their revenue. As soon as it's stops becoming cool to have either of those device or something better comes out...that's gonna suck for apple. now you see why they are trying to sue the crap out of samsung. gotta protect their cash cow at all costs.
Nobody will have an Ipad and an Ipad mini...its one or the other. And most definitely, there is a huge market for either one. I use my Ipad on a daily basis...and it would suck if tablets didnt exist.
I use my iPad for every computing task outside of coding. Very convenient and versatile device. My spouse's iPad is her only computer.
