oops....my bad. There is a College Sports forum huh. Well, sorry about that. I don't think I have every ventured into the College Hoops forum before.
Those who want a college football playoff with more than, say, 4 teams - pay attention to the cricket chirping noise surrounding this game. In football, #1 vs. #3 is monumentally huge, precisely because it is essentially an elimination game for the title. In basketball, no such luck, it might vaguely influence RPI and bracket seedings, but otherwise....no biggie.
Then pay attention to the millions upon millions of people watching the tournament in March. Are you saying the NCAA should get rid of March Madness? The reason why there is no hype surrounding this game is because #1s in basketball can change week to week. Not to mention, it's during the middle of the week at the very beginning of the college basketball season while people are still more into football rather than caring about a game when a team has 25+ more to play. A #1 v. #3 in college football would be a big deal, regardless of month and regardless of how they settle the champion at the end of the year. The fact that computers instead of players are doing most of the decision work when determining a champion is absurd.
