How about you not insult someone for giving their opinion? What exactly have I done wrong here? I simply expressed an opinion that this thread was getting r****ded. I in no way questioned the credibility of Pops or anything like that.

    Christ, you guys have issues.

I, personally like threads like this, it's a lot more fun to speculate and guess than to say this player is going to get traded by nest week, lets me do something to pass the time.

That being said, I think the suns and lakers will make a trade

It's a game we've been playing since before the millenium. And definitely one of the things that makes this place so special.

Furthermore,it's downright classless to come in anothers house and behave as a bull in a china shop.

    Take it all in.......c'mon.

Let me make something clear. I only read the popular threads that are on the main clutchfans page. I don't browse the entire board. So i don't have to deal with all the above mentioned redundant/r****ded threads. I wasn't trying to disrespect anyone. All I was doing was expressing my frustration for reading several pages in a thread and essentially getting no information out of it. I'm pretty sure that doesn't hurt anyone, and, last I checked, it was allowed.

And then all the r****ds insulting me for expressing that frustration just added to my opinion that this thread is r****ded.

    edit: ah, nevermind...

"Bull in a china shop" is too kind a metaphor, since a bull has a certain power an nobility to him. "Turd in a punchbowl" comes to mind. No wonder OP doesn't post any more.

I was implying to another quote about bryant outselling more than yao's jersey in his native land... Yao's Chinese, which is obvious to the citizens of china to pick up his jersey. On the other hand it's nice to have a different superstar jersey to wear. It's good to balance the popularity out to promote the NBA worldwide....

A third of your overall posts on this bbs have been made in this thread and all those posts are complaints about the same thing over and over.

Okay, we're all guilty of feeding the newest troll. Why is the world so full of these "look at me" kids hanging on every bit of negative attention they can get? It's just sad. Ignore engaged.

Yeah, you know why? Because the first time I expressed that opinion, I was insulted, for no reason.

Way to base your opinion about someone on a few posts of that person defending himself from being personally insulted by people for expressing his opinion.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I am not a troll. At all. Nor am I a "negative attention craving kid", as you put it.

I am a huge Rockets fan, and as I said before, I come here to gather information about them that I may not otherwise get.

For you people to insult me like this for simply making a statement about my opinion...that is what's sad.

Nice to have you back, Popeye.

Let's stop all this nonsense and try analyzing or waiting a bit more, shall we?

This thread really is awesome. I'm intrigued by a recurring comment about "old schoolers" becoming "lurkers" on this board. Why is that?

Why have the people with real insight and information gone quiet? Certainly the likes of Cygnuss33-come-lately's with their meaningless comments are not to blame. And BTW, I'm not insulting you personally Cygnus, just scoffing your less than sophisticated comment to an otherwise very interesting read.

Come on old schoolers. We need your substantive insights, humor and even relevant bickering more often. Without it, we average readers (not posters) are left reading gems like "this thread is r****ded".

Can someone succinctly explain why the old schoolers have gone underground?

Sorry if that is off topic.

To address the Kobe trade though --In my opinion, the only thing better than having a Kobe Bryant on your team is to beat a team with a Kobe Bryant. Sure, he's a remarkable individual baller but as the ad says, "...it takes 5" and as a long time Rockets fan, I'll take the 5 we have over Kobe's hubris and selfish disposition any season including this one. Please let the new management/coaching staff carefully consider integrity and chemistry of a TEAM over the famed talent of one.

Go Rox! 3 and O how I love it.

Ok guys, I think all this hate is getting a little too far.

Cygnus has said nothing that would imply that he's trolling. He has his opinion, and I don't see how someone is a troll if he doesn't like riddles and having to grope around in the dark deciphering OP's post. Let's stop this old-schoolers vs young blood rift we have going on here shall we.

I've been lurking around the boards for a long while before signing up as a poster, so I have seen Popeye/Oeilpere's posts from time to time. It's certainly great to see him back.

Regarding the riddle, I think 1 and 2 are certainly not connected to each other. Though in the case of 1, I don't think it was a point of emphasis that OP capitaled WAS in his second post. I got a feeling that we might be involved in a trade with the Wiz at some point. Perhaps involving Rafer Alston. I don't know.

2 makes a little more sense. Disgruntled star and aging African is too obvious that it's improbable. It's probably meant to throw us off, seeing as how we have a disgruntled star (Steve Francis) and an aging African (Deke) on our team. But there is NO WAY that it is that obvious. Most likely, it refers to a blockbuster trade between another team and the Lakers for Kobe. The Nash and Marion scenario probably works, though salary-wise the Lakers might have to throw in another player. Possibly Radmanovic, or Kwame Brown, or Bynum.

That theory works all the more, because one thing that's bugged me is how OP would post this on the GARM if it weren't about the Rockets. But notice how he didn't capitalise rocket pockets. IMO, rocket pockets mostly likely doesn't refer to our team, but to a person. And from what I've read, Jerry Buss seems to fit the bill with his poker hobby.

Two things that irk me are the T(rade)M(ark) hitting 40+, and the rocket pockets. For the former, I can't seem to find anything that it substantially relates to other than Jerry West. But it would seem odd to talk bring West into a point about the Rockets. I don't buy the theory that Trade Mark = McGrady being marked as a hot commodity in the trade market at all.

Rocket pockets is even more vague. I said above that it could possibly refer to Jerry Buss and his affection for poker, seeing as how someone has stated that a pocket rocket is a poker term, but it just doesnt' seem substantial to me. I just hope that it's not really Tmac + Francis + Deke for Kobe. That would break my heart if Morey were to come out to the media and say that the organisation is not trading Tmac, only for them to turn around and trade him anyway. I just don't think Morey is as low as that.
