Sorry, but just to emphasize what others have said -- can't happen anytime soon due to timeline restrictions for both Rockets you mention.

Steve cannot be traded until AFTER Dec 15
Deke cannot be traded until AFTER Jan 1, 2008

We are supposed to find out if this trade will happen in 1 week so Steve and Deke CANNOT be appart of any trade in the next week.

Wow! OP! Fantastic! I think everyone who was around for your last posts feared the worst. Great to know that you're doing well and sharing again. It's easy to see that Yao is struggling with the new offense, but the key is..Is Yao positive about the changes, or is he resisting them? As long as he has that positive attitude that he seems to have about everything, then I don't think there is anything to worry about. But if he is resisting, that would be bad.

Cool...you copied what I previously wrote. I think that was a tactic first used by Stephen Douglas. Anyway... Has Kobe ever gotten out of the first round without Shaq ? If he's sooo much better than McGrady you would think he would, at least, be able to lead his team to the second round of the playoffs.

i complete agree. Francis was a complaint of old age since first day here. when he went to Africa during the super bowl, that made JVG mad but you have to understand where francis is coming from. they wanted to redo his contract but without the age complaint. that's why he stood in jvg's doghouse.

the (oh,oh ... oh,no ... not again) means were trading four players for one superstar just like '96 when we traded for Barkley.

Barkley was traded to the Rockets for key stars Robert Horry(oh) and Sam Cassell(oh) and bench players Mark Bryant (oh)and Chucky Brown(no).

I think Kobe is coming to town

Africans in the NBA other than Deke, who can't be traded for awhile anyway?

    Luol Deng.
    Emeka Okafor.

"Land of the Rising Sun" could be Yao---some of Oeilpere's observations in the past have been, well, off the mark in "facts" or deliberately off.

Yao looks sluggish. Yao's complained a bit.

Geez, I can't imagine it, but if anyone were truly honest, how many times have we re-tooled this offense to fit Yao?

Granted, Kobe would be the only player such a scenario would fetch (3-way with the Bulls?), but then what would we do for a big?

I wonder how hard it would be to keep this kind of thing to yourself with oh 25 thousand people trying to figure it out. I don't think I've seen any of the mods post yet... if anybody else, wouldn't they be in the know? :)

That would make Clutch's interview this morning pretty funny if he was talking to a good part of Houston and managed not to tease the hosts or other thousands of other people.

I doubt it's anything amazingly world-shattering. I'd love to get back Cassell, but it'll probably be Brad Miller or something. It's fun to speculate anyway.

Thanks Popeye! I definitely just had a spinach salad. Ah guh guh guh.

I think he's mostly talking about a Kobe Bryant trade to another team, nothing about the Rockets trading for him though.

This tells me that McGrady is a trade mark, meaning McGrady is being sought by other teams, maybe the Lakers, but not necessarily offered by the Rockets...

I'm not sure why he would say "It's hard to argue with TM" though... Maybe he means that we can't really say they looked sluggish with McGrady going for 40 and the team winning by 11...

Complaining star = Marion... Aging African = Nash... The other complaining star = Kobe... Aging contract = Kwame Brown whose contract expires after this season.

There was a rumor about that... Hearing about it doesn't mean it's bound to happen or anything, just a rumor.

Hurt rocket pockets for a long, long time? = I have no idea

To me, he was just updating us on his personal situation.

I don't think this was Yao, he played hard, just struggled... Was probably Rafer and ???

Scarry could be a misspelling of scary or "bearing scars or wounds"... Kobe... Fanangle also means to tear apart... Kobe's no trade clause...

Bah.. I just wasted an hour on that.

    Potential doghouse members:
    SF3
    Yao
    Battier
    Head
    Deke

Anyone else has either not played or played well in both games. I can't imagine Yao or Battier exchanging strong words with anyone. And Battier hasn't even played very poorly.

It's fairly obvious this is about Kobe. He's the only player in the league with a no-trade clause. And he's publicly demanded a trade, followed by public whining about the possibility about being traded (trade me/no trade me). He's the only star fanangling trade discussions.

Maybe we're in discussions about a possible three-way trade involving Kobe? Sacramento tried to get in on that action. We could be too, even if we're not the ones getting him.

I don't mean to be rude, but you kind of answered your own question. You implied Kobe was only successful with an in-his-prime Shaq. He won 3 rings during that time.

If Kobe gained another "almost-in-his-prime-but-pretty-darn-good" center in Yao, Kobe will 'produce' again, according to the formula.

Just chiming in...I think you can't go wrong with either Tmac or Kobe, so I don't care if a trade happens or not. In Tmac, you get more playmaking for teammates...in Kobe, you get tenacious defense. So it doesn't matter to me.

Back to the topic of the thread, I think I'm about ready to find out who the winner of this puzzle is. when do we get to find out?

I think a lot of people wanted to keep Cassell and Horry.
